When someone is talking to you and slips in a phrase like "Beleive me", "To tell you the truth", "Trust me", "I guarentee"?
Lately seems like as soon as I hear those words I stop listening to what I'm being told. Is it just me or do those phrases signal a lie?

you are right these words are signals of lies, but it could be that they were just said accidently. there are also other signals of lies like leaning backward or distancing yourself from the subject... only several of them combined give you a high probability that the person is lying.

Nope, I stop listening when I hear words like "I have a boyfriend" or "I don't know you well enough to have sex".
