There is much debate here about us Christians and what we say/how we act. So here's my question, how would you prefer us to be? What do we need to do to most effectively attract people to our religion, you're our target audience so your insight would be most appreciated. Please no aruging or silly answers. Cheers.

Let people decide for themselves how to act and what to believe in. I would be nice for everyone to be more tolerant of others beliefs.

It's nice to see a question like this. Honestly, the reasons that I've never been attracted to Christianity are mostly because my beliefs are so different and I am very happy with my deities and my religion.
But there are things that would cause me to respect Christians more. I agree with most of the answers you've received so far. I respect Buddhists and Hindus because of their general peacefulness and tolerance of other beliefs. They don't proselytize and they don't devalue the beliefs of others--even if they don't agree. I see Jews in a similar way. I like talking to them and learning about their faiths because I know that I probably won't get insulted and they'll be polite. They aren't condescending to me---and I am more than happy to return that respect and listen to them. When someone tells me things like, "You worship false gods!" or "When are you going to accept the real god?" it automatically tells me that they don't consider my feelings and experiences to be of any value to them---and then they expect me to give value to what they will say next! Naturally, any real chance of open communication has stopped. The beliefs that I hold most dear and my deities whom I have loved for many years have been casually (and sometimes hatefully) dismissed. Why would I want to learn how to be so rude and hateful?
To be fair, not all Christians are like this. I have family and friends who follow Christianity and they are wonderful people. But there are just too many who aren't so considerate.
Perhaps the sad truth of this Q&A will explain better why some people don't even stick around long enough to hear your message:

Lead by example. Live your truths and let them be your attractor. I know it's not EVERY Christian, but too many are so very pushy, close-minded and just plain lost. I really hate it that a lot of them feel it's their "Duty" to try to convert the un or non believer masses. I seem to remember Jesus being an example of his beliefs. He spoke to those who wanted to hear, he didn't beat them over the head with a bible or anything else, well, according to the good book, but I wasn't there, so I don't have the faintest clue what went on, and nobody else does either. Because religion is taken on Faith. And if it's being crammed down your throat, that's not faith, that's Force, and I don't believe ANY religion, at its' truest core, advocates that!!

We Christians are taught to spread the Gospel. On this site I have noticed that it is not the most friendly place to go. I sometimes get just furious when I see someone mock God or Jesus and I tend to say things back when I shouldn't. It is because of God that I am saved and away from my previous life of wicca that started to destroy me both mentally and physically.
Anyway, all I try to do is answer questions they way they are in my mind. I wont lie about my feelings. This is what people think Christians are all about, but we as Christians are suppose to tell each other when we see one of us doing wrong as I have been told. Sorry if the truth hurts, but better the truth than a lie.

You dont truly choose an Iphone at the same time as youre 13 do you? Im just about 15 and offered mine myself from the money i saved up doing newspaper rounds. you are able to make a cope which include your mum like washing up for her for some months or do procuring for her once a week. you are able to convince her through putting forward its no longer a waste of money or something and tell her each and every of the sturdy aspects of having an Iphone. tell her that youre going to might want to purchase a sparkling telephone in some unspecified time sooner or later because your different telephone doesnt look primary anymore. If she truly wont enable you to get an Iphone you are able to attempt a Blackberry or Samsung Galaxy? xxx

Keep a dignified silence . Believe what ever you want we don't want to share it.
No other religion wants to share it, The more you talk about it the sillier it sounds.
We get only a few Muslim rants on here, hardly any Jews spouting off, and very few others.
Take your example from these other religions.
You will never 'attract' me but I would certainly have more respect. As I have for the Jews.

there isnt a person that i know that hasnt heard about Chrisitianity
infact most that i know were raised Christian and have left the faith through choice and personal experiences ...
i am not sure there is anything you can do to draw them back now
but
what i would like to see is Chrsitians being more Christ like in their attitude to others , so that people arent put off Christianity as a whole due to judgemental attitudes and trying to save those they believe are going to burn in hell
just spread love , no matter whether people wish to join your faith or not .... there should be no reward/punishment involved

My problem with Christians seems to be that I have read their bible, while many of them have not.I don't profess to be a bible scholar, but I know jesus says to love your neighbor as yourself, clearly many christians here do not love themselves very much. Also, One of the reasons I converted to Paganism was because I was tired of hearing people tell me how bad I was for smoking, swearing, drinking, having sex etc. It seems like as a pagan I hear about it now more than ever. I don't consider my vices to be faults, they're not hurting anyone, they're part of who I am, if you've got a problem with them, I don't want to know you. It's as simple as that. I think the christians here should concentrate more on what jesus said about forgiveness and tolerance and less on being judgemental. Forgive my bluntness, but it's how I feel.

This is just off the top of my head here, but if your religion was really all that whippy, don't you think people would just flock to it without having to be convinced of it's "truth."?
Call me crazy, but if it were such a great religion, you wouldn't have to con people into joining it, now would you. If anyone really believed that there is some all-mighty sky fairy, no one would have to keep trying to convince everyone that it exists. All that nonsensical prattling on just makes it sound like you're trying to convince yourselves so you won't feel like schmucks for falling for the con.

Even Jesus Christ Himself didn't please everybody. But your question is very thought provoking. I am a preacher, but I don't preach to anyone unless they are open to hearing it. Live your life in such a way that people see you have real peace in your life. Then, maybe they will ask how you do it. Then you can tell them.
No one wants anything shoved down their throat. Jesus told the truth, and when people didn't believe Him, He simply went on His way. In my opinion, we should act the same way. Peace.
