Even with the TV show "Big Love," people have been giving a young woman who is involved in a polygamous relationship a lot of guff, assuming she is making it all up. Don't you believe anyone really does live polygamously?

It may be that she really is kidding, but other people who read her question may not be. I personally feel it is worthwhile to answer any question as if it were serious. It doesn't hurt anyone, but refusing to believe it is serious can be hurtful to someone in any kind of unusual situation.

No, I'm not in a polygamous relationship, but I've long wanted to be. I am not fertile, and I thought My Steve should be a father. And I don't agree that only the men benefit: the sisterhood felt by the women is important and real. And then too, they may have more than one husband, as well. Why not? In some circles, we call that a coven.

I really think it depends on the way the question is worded, and the spirit in which it's intended. I have answered a few questions about polygamy (to which I'm opposed), but it was pretty obvious which of the askers was being a wise guy and which was serious.

I am an american-arab muslim lady living in SaudiArabia and married to a Saudi... Everyday someone comes up to me asking me about polygamous marriage.. I assume they are all serious. I just answer as I have experience to.. Nothing.. its extremely rare and far between that muslim men do take advantage of the polygamy rule.. Its just not done.. They west makes fun of us thinking all arab men have thousands of wives.. I frankly do not know of anyone in a polygamous marriage here..

It is a serious issue, and i do believe there area few people out there who do practice polygamy..I would never allow myself to be in a polygamist relationship, Seems like it would just cause alot of problems..It would only benefit the man..
Good Question

What a strange thing to worry about and be concerned about. Are you a polygamist?

I know it's real cuz I've known people who've practiced it, but who cares? It's wrong, end of story. If people don't want to live it then they have a way out of it since it's against the law.

The only one that would benefit from polygamy is men . It is not legal , but some do it anyway, and many want out after they find out and find out what it is really like
