My bank debit card was cloned and I got the money back eventually but initially they said I would have to pay for it. After a dispute, they agreed to. Apparently it is common practise for them to refuse on the first claim and pay out on the second as a lot of people just give up. So don't! (That was told to me by a policeman!)

Oh I sure was. They stole my name and info and tried to apply for credit cars... joke's on them, my credit is so bad that no one in their right mind would ever give me a credit card.

On a related note my father's credit card number was somehow stolen, and this asian guy showed up at a best buy with a credit card with my father's information on it and that guy's picture on the front. They must have had a pretty elaborate setup because the transaction went through and everything. Guy bought two 500 dollar lcd computer monitors. I guess the girl at the counter didn't check his id so he got away with it and because of that, Best Buy had to eat the cost of them, and my father got the money credited back into his account. Last I heard, the guy was caught and was apparently part of this yakuza crime cyndicate. Crazy stuff....

Yes - some scallywag bought loads of electricals at Dixons in Oxford Street. Card company contacted me and money was refunded. They always do this - you're covered so long as you haven't revealed your PIN. Of course it's much more difficult to do credit card fraud in this way now.

Yeah, two times. Once with my ATM, the "suspect" got $1,000.00 from 27 different attempts at various ATMs, going up and down Ventura Blvd, in the San Fernando Valley. The "suspect" was photographed 23 times during the rip off transactions.

Another time, a "loser suspect" used my AMEX and charged his storage units to my account. You could imagine the paper trail was pretty clear. Idiot!!

In both cases I was credited immediately by the customer service department, and settled later for the exact amount used.

My two cards were changed and shipped to me overnight in both cases.

Yep, someone used mine on the Internet and did some shopping, I got paid back!
I had to prove it was not me though, and as the suppliers stated the goods were delivered to a address in Scotland, I live in Wales, it wasn't to hard!
What I could not understand is, why ask for cardholder address and send goods miles away! Argos was one of the stores, the other two was American!

My dads had this on his tesco visa, they spent 3500! He phoned Tesco straight away and they sorted it all out no problem. They removed the balance but not the points so my mum had a nice time spending them!!!!
