Why is it when your are in a relationship one person does something wrong, and then the other person does something wrong to get back at him/her, and it goes back and forth. Why is that?

Because people are immature and egos are stronger than most relationships. it has a lot to do with self respect and the power pivot in a relationship

not everyone plays that game. You just have a partner who feels they need to get back at you somehow and get revenge. a person like that down the line could also take you to the cleaners one day. I'd be weary of that. yes you made a mistake depending on how bad it was. but it isn't necessary to always get back at a person.

That has to do with the nature in us - the spirit of retaliation is in-built in human race. That can only be over-come when one is a genuine christian.
