Steinbach is a small town about 30 mins from the edge of Winnipeg. It is a nice smaller town; where people will know your name. It has somewhat of a religious overtone with all the Mennonite people who live there. Until a few years ago, it was a "dry" town; there was no alcohol permitted within town limits. (the bar was about a foot outside town limits) The people there are friendly and are welcoming to any new people.

The town is close to the TransCanada Hwy, so you can head east or west quite easily. The highway is 2 lanes each way. It can be slippery in the winter, and of course, it does have the sterotypical Canadian winter. (cold and snowy) There is farming around that area or people commute to Winnipeg too.

Basically it is a small town with the comforts of the "big city" close enough to enjoy. Make sure you go see the big windmill they have there. :)

Steinbach, Manitoba is a small town outside Winnipeg. Can get bitter cold there this time. Have only passed by there, have never spent any time in the town but if you go the Manitoba/tourism website, I am sure you can find out more info.
