Dear Nico, i think you could ask her what she wish to have for a Christmas present. Her choice could lead you to the perfect gift for her if you do not agree with her choice but, if you do? then, it so much better.
I do sincerely believe that, at the end of it all you will come to know your little girl better in that you could understand or know the way she reason and see things. It will also make her feel important and growing up if not grown up.
Good luck to you and say hi to your daughter for me. Cheers and happy Christmas in advance to you both.

It all depends on what she likes to do. I'm getting mine a huge whiteboard and markers, she loves to draw and write, she also asked for books and a kit for making necklaces with beads of different shapes and colors, and as she likes 'Playmobil' toys, she asked for a whole house, but father xmas is not sure about that one yet, it's really expensive here in Mauritius.

9 is a really hard age to shop for with girls. I know mine is going super pre-teen on me. So I got her some CDs that I know are popular (Pink, The Killers, My Chemical Romance), I got her some books because she likes to read (The Harry Potter series, Series of Unfortunate Events, American Girl books) and some gift certificates for our local mall and some of her favorite stores.

I'm posting this answer on every "what shall I get them for Christmas questions".
Do what I did....
Go to the TV, pick a channel. First advert, that's her present.
My wife is getting a pack of Pedigree DentaStix. They are dental chews for dogs. I don't know how she will feel about it but at least I don't have to think about it anymore and I can blame the advertising for it.
P.S. we don't have a dog

what about something real? A popcorn maker< milkshake maker, seeds for a garden bed, make her independent. At 9 she will love it.
