A cake will keep several days if kept in a glass cake plate with the cover on it.. I dont know much about Marzipan, have never used it.. I did find this imformation, don't know if it is helpful or not!

Marzipan can be softened by adding small amounts of syrup to it, if too soft add additional powdered sugar to it.

Cake will last quite long if you don't refrigerate it. Refrigerate only if the recipe requires it.

I use a glass dome and find it can keep well over a week, close to two weeks if it's a good moist cake. The glass dome keeps it fresh yet doesn't encourage mold. Using a storage container like Tupperware seals it too tight and encourages it to become soggy and moldy.
