poor you so the ugly duckling that was your little sister has now turned into the beautiful swan.

It hard having a sister young or older that seems to outshine you all the time.

I don't see there very much you can do. have you tried talking to your friends and telling them how you feel?

It is actually pretty mature of you to even examine your inner thoughts on this issue and be willing to face the fact that, for now, you may be a little jealous of your little sister. Generally speaking, jealousy comes from having the belief that someone else's success/looks/friends, etc. somehow diminishes your success, etc., but the truth is, it doesn't. What DOES diminish your chances of success in life is starting it out and continuing it with jealous thought systems in your mind. If you allow yourself to be a jealous thinker, you can continue this way until you are 60 years old! You could end up ruining more than just your relationship with your little sister--you could end up being jealous of every woman you meet that you think is prettier/smarter, etc. than you. REPLACE your jealous mindset (which should be much easier for you because you are so young) with the truth: the success of others does not diminish your success. Possessing hatred in your heart and being in FEAR diminishes YOU, and your chances of success in life. Love casts out Fear, so develop love in your heart for your sister and others whom you might otherwise feel threatened by. Straighten out your thinking now, while you're young. Focus on what a blessing it is to have a sister at all. Realize that you are to be proud to be a beautiful girl and to have a beautiful sister as well. You two should be a team! You two could be the Two Beautiful Sisters! Think way ahead in time, when you and your sister are 45, divorced and have kids. You may need each others help to make it for many years in life until things turn around for each of you. She could be your saving grace someday, and/or you hers. Realize that in the beginning you got used to being "the pretty one," but it was never really a contest, you are both beautiful. But because you got used to being "the pretty one," it was easier for you to fall into jealousy. You are actually breaking one of the 10 Commandments by harboring jealousy. The reason it's a Commandment in the first place is because jealousy destroys the possessor of the jealous emotion--not the object of the jealousy and God doesn't want you to fall for that trap! We all get pangs of jealousy at times, but what separates the unhappy people from the happy people is that happy people SHAKE THEMSELVES OUT OF IT before jealousy takes root. You are young enough to do this. Do not allow beliefs about the situation that are in error to keep jealous thoughts going on in your soul. Pluck those thoughts out of your mind while you can.

HERE'S THE SOLUTION: Write down the REAL facts about the situation on a piece of paper: 1) you are beautiful, 2) your sister's beauty does not take anything away from you or your life, 3) you can get all the love and attention you need regardless of your sister's beauty, 4) God has given you your beauty and specific talents and intelligence and emotional maturity to use and enjoy for His glory in life, 5) God is your supplier--not other people or your sister or even your own beauty. When jealous thoughts come in your mind and you start to feel bad, go get that list of truths about you and read them to yourself until you feel better. The bad thoughts WILL stop if you do this. Do this EACH TIME those thoughts try to come back until they quit trying to come back.

Remember too, most other people will always be shallow and look to the outside and they are fickle. "Friends" will come and go throughout your life. You are only 15, you are just getting started. True friends will not choose to be your friend just based on your looks.

By bringing up this issue you show great emotional maturity for your age. You are pretty smart to look inward and identify what may be the toxic emotion that is bothering you right now. I think you'll do fine.

Stop being jealous of your sister. You should be proud of her, not jealous.
