Here are some money saving tips.
-A brunch-style reception with numerous hors d'oeurves will dramatically cut down food costs because guests tend to have less of an appetite during the early afternoon. They will also be less inclined to drink heavily.
-Reception halls/hotels/country clubs charge a much lower rental rate for Friday and Sunday weddings.
-Only incorporate flowers that are locally available and in season to avoid being charged for them being specially ordered/imported from elsewhere other than your grocer/florist.
Here are some other helpful tips:
-In addition to your photographer snapping photos at your reception, purchase disposable camaras and place them on guest tables. Leave a note asking them to take candid pictures of themselves and others throughout the event. You can then have someone collect the camaras at the end of the recption. You are sure to score some great photos to add to your wedding album.
-How about extra funding for your honeymoon?The new trend in registering for gifts is registering with your travel agency! Guests can contibute any amount they wish towards your honeymoon by calling your travel agency and transfering money into your "Honeymoon Account". Pick up a bridal magazine and browse through the back pages to see what I'm talking about.
-You can also create a "Wedding website" and include the link on your invitation. On this personal "Wedsite", you can include information about you and your fiance, how you met, members of your bridal party, where you registered for gifts(instead of directly mentioning it on your invitation), ect. at a wedding there is usually one something that goes wrong. Someone brings the wrong shoes, etc. Don't stress over those things. All that really matters is looking into each others eyes and saying the vows. Relax as much as possible and keep thinking "today is a great day, and I gonna enjoy all of it". My son accidently said "with this wing I thee wed", everyone got a laugh out of it and all was well. Enjoy and God bless.

The part where your groom fishes your garter out from under your dress....I had a plastic ball and chain tied up there right before we did it, when he yanked it out it was the funniest thing...I also put a stuffed rabbit and a Pittsburgh Steelers Terrible Towel up there....it was pretty funny and our guests talked about it for months afterwards....most of the time your guests are expecting the regular ho hum of the groom getting the garter out, at least you can give them a good laugh.
