You know, I was born and bred in London (UK), and over here the Indians tend to be SOOOO religious. I mean I have always found it strange that NRIs all over the world practise Hinduism more than people in India. Why is that? The average NRI will pray everyday for at least half hour, whereas my cousins that live in India only pray whenever they have an interview or an exam.
Anyway, prayers do work, but you have to conduct prayer properly. Durga, Hanuman, or ganesh (or whoever u worship) will more likely to answer your prayers in time of need if your worship them regularly. If you only pray to them when you want something, c'mon brothers and sisters, that is f u k i n stupid.

I would only believe that prayer was legitimate if a strong atheist (one that I know and trust) prayed and received a result that was so amazing and obvious that it couldn't possibly have been a coincidence or luck or anything like that. And, preferably, I'd like to see that experiment done a couple times with similar results. That would lead me to believe that there is some value in the "prayer" concept.

Yes, I believe in prayer with all heart and soul. I have found so much help through prayer, not only physically but spiritually.
I recall one occasion where my Mother was hospitalised for
Hernia. It was so hard to bear with pain.I Decided to try praying for her to help her able to tolerate the pain. Slowly, the pain would start ebbing away while I prayed until it would be completely gone.
There have been other occasions where I have prayed for strength and have been blessed with the strength I needed.
Really don't want to argue with anyone about my beliefs but I just wanted people to know what has happened to me.Prayer are Positive blessing that we give to the person we pray for nothing go waste believe me.

I believe in prayers. I believe that the only way the USA will maintain their freedom and prevent another terrorist attack is through prayer. I believe that if Christians use 1John1:9 and pray that our nation will be preserved. 2ND Chronicles 7:14 states"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land" He answers my prayers. People think I am a nut but I do not care. I pray. He answers.

Prayer is communication with GOD. Prayers are powerful and effective. But the power comes from GOD. The WORD and The Holy Spirit give us the direction.
There are many ways or directions. There is only one righteous path.

I don't believe it has any supernatural effect, no. I don't believe you're going to defy the laws of physics and magically alter the course of history. But if it's psychologically beneficial to you, great. Also, I think it's important to note that there are different kinds of prayer, namely petitionary and contemplative. Petitionary prayer is where you ask God for something, usually in a verbal manner. Contemplative prayer is a nonverbal practice, where you relax, let go, and receptively sit in silence. I think the latter is probably far more beneficial than the former. My two cents.

Prayer changes things. Little prayer=little power; much prayer=much power.

Yes, Prayers are uttelry powerful if done honestly. If you only do it for formality than I am sorry your prayers will not be answered. Do it with heart - and your prayers will be answered.

Yes I sure do. If we trusted and prayed more, and got ourselves involved less, more prayer would be answered.
We dont trust them to be answered so we try to fix the situation ourselves. Basically, G-d stays out of it when we do this. I'm all for prayer and then "hands off"
Blessings,
David
