I take a lot of low level and ground up pictures and would like to know if the following is possible and if not, why?

Is it possible to view the image you want to photograph through the LCD or can you only view it through the view finder.

If you can view the picture through the LCD, how do you set the camera up for this function.

If not, why did they not make this possible on this camera.

The lcd screen isn't usable for composing a shot - only for reviewing pictures and accessing the menu.
Of all the digital SLR cameras out there, only one model can use the lcd screen for 'live view', and that’s the Olympus e330. To achieve this, the engineers at Olympus had to butcher the camera to within an inch of its life and half-morph it into a point & shoot (including the sluggish performance). Really, it's a horrible compromise.
If you really, really need a swivel-lcd screen for composing shots, you can buy them seperately... I forget the company name (not Canon). They have little screens that you can attach to the eye piece.

maximum SLRs do no longer have stay view because its no longer a nesseity for experts. I advise there is Olympus 4 thrids gadget yet you could purchase an finished new set of glass. Canon has supposive introducted this stay view into the Mk-III yet its $3999. Its problematical to placed a stay view in because in element and shoot cameras, mild is continually uncovered to the sensor, even as as SLRs have a reflect blockading mild and diverting it to the view finder. i come across optical view finders extra useful because what you note is what you get. stay perspectives have a tendency now to not reveal the right information on the computer screen so thats why I by no ability loved it. short answer on the XTi no you won't be able to use hte liquid crystal reveal to compose your shot. I dont care i respect my XTi even even as it doesnt have it.
