Often you can find shampoos and conditioners that have vitamins in them for hair. They claim to help damaged hair, but who knows which ones can be trusted. Just shop around for some new hair products, and try to find labels that seem like they'll help your situation.

HI, damaged hair needs to be cut to clear the damage or trimmed to gradually allow healthy growth in. There are several treatments that will make damaged hair FEEL better and even possibly look better but the damage is permanent and thank goodness hair grows.
If the damage is due to heat or over use of dye, the cortex will not come back and the best you can hope for is to make the surface smoother and more silky.
Split ends can be cut but will return so regular trims are necessary. Brittle hair that is dry and breaks can benefit from hot oil, mayo and and a host of other treatments. Protein based shampoos and conditioners work best on heat and dye related damage.
Oils will only sit on top and cake. Split ends and dull hair do well with the oils. Most salons have shampoos designed to minimize the appearance of damage whatever the source. However, as many other writers have said, only cutting will completely rid you of it. The choice is yours. I hope this helps.

Stay off hair treatments like straightening, perming, coloring for a few months since your hair is already stressed out. Instead, get a hot oil every week or a l'oreal or kerastase hair treatment for damaged hair. Get your hair trimmed every month to cut the damaged ends off and use conditioners after swimming. You can also try the olive oil home remedies mentioned above and use sunblock for hair. Brushing with boar's hair bristles would also give your hair a natural shine. There's no instant solution. You have to wait for your hair to recover depending on the damage.

Get a good hair mask and leave it on your hair for about 15 minutes once or twice a week.
Try the Body Shop Brazil Nut Moisture Mask
PS You can also try a deep conditioning at a salon. They put a special conditioner on your hair and sit you under the dryer for 20 minutes, Your hair comes out softer and more manageable.

I had very damaged hair from years of coloring my hair and using a flat iron. Ive been using Bed Head Dumb Blonde Shampoo and Condtioner as well as Bed Head Health Goddess and using a deep condtioner twice a week it has really helped my hair a lot I highly recommend it. It is a bit expensive if you are looking for something cheaper Sally's Beauty Supply store carries a lot of excellent generic brands that work great.

You can try to buy Schwarzkopf products. They've a great series of haircar products which you may likely to find something really suitable for your hair. But the prices are slightly more costly as they're professional products.
If not, buy any Japan brands products which are equally as good. Buy those products specially catered to Dry & Damaged hair or Colored & Damaged hair series. I'm sure it will help too. I've tried several Japan haircare products and they're really good.
