http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=Av3mgLAU_BfyD6ncoWdkRx9c1KIX - - - This needs to be short so in a pin cushion. We were embarrassed at these meetings! The people were medicating themselves out where everyone who drove by or walked by could see! One guy could not even walk he was so out of it. Everyone was so paranoid, this is legal right? The license says it is? Awhile later we buy more of this "medication" $300 bucks worth. This is free? We noticed those who had no money and were new were treated like muchers and one lady looked embarrassed. These are people in pain or sick!! The people running the show were so stoned that they could not function! My question (finally) This stuff works for me! But these people! We are so uncomfortable! We can not seam to make friends with any of them! I am not a cop, I am not part of the law, but treated this way (way I look, and act I have been told). I am not going to use this stuff just because everyone else is. Am I over reacting?

Why are these people so paranoid? If it is free why is it costing so much money? Why on earth are they putting people who can not function in charge? Cant these people lay off the stuff long enough so they can run the program?
If we are going to get this program excepted things need to change! Am I wrong when going to these meetings not taking this stuff when at the moment I do not need it? Also I know some of you reading this are from the program, these are my thoughts and feelings I am not alone on how I feel!
What are your thoughts and of course I do not need negativity, I hurt and can not sleep. Just been told this decease is eating away at my mouth now (teeth, gums, jaw etc.), I am not in great mood. Give a person a break please.
Thank you in advance!

The marijuana medical program, it is in Washington, Oregon, Hawaii and some other states right now. I am legal, the doctor and the paperwork says I am.
I would love to be able to take codeine and other drugs, I have tried these. My seizures get bad when taking those drugs :0(

I think it is a sad situation that alcohol, and some prescriptions, are legal, yet marijuana is not. I don't know where this program is, but I can understand why some patients would feel paranoid even if it is medically prescribed. The laws concerning medical marijuana are so new and so "iffy" that it still causes problems for people who have been deemed to have a medical need.
I don't think you are overreacting. If the people running the program are abusing the medication, then they are not only going to cause more problems for a cause that is highly debated, but they are driving up the cost for you and other patients by consuming the profits.
I hate to say it, but if I were you I would just buy it myself. Hundreds of thousands of people in the US use marijuana without a prescription. You have one, so there shouldn't be any moral guilt. And it will most likely be less expensive that way. If you know it helps you and it makes your disease even a little more bearable-then screw the system and anybody else that doesn't like it.

That's quite a few questions.. I'll try to answer what I can.
>Am I over reacting?
Doesn't sound like it.
>Why are these people so paranoid?
I could be mistaken, but I think that's one of the side effects of the medicine.
>Am I wrong when going to these meetings not taking this stuff when at the moment I do not need it?
I would say you're not wrong here. Now I'm not a doctor, so I can't really give medical advice, but personally I only use medicine of any kind in moderation and only when I feel it's necessary.

I hope that's somewhat helpful.

While medicinal marijuana has been legalized by some states it sadly has not been legalized by the federal govt. So technically it's not legal. Federal overrides state. But states that have legalized medicinal use are rebelling and treating people anyway.
That is enough to make anyone paranoid.

Some people may feel paranoia because of the marijuana's effects on them. Different people react differently to things. Others may need it and just be embarrassed to have to do something so many people thinks is criminal.

As for the workers it's sad they can't get better people. But it's to my understanding the workers are often ill people who are very dedicated to the cause because they understand. Also not allot of people who are not medicinal users themselves want to help out of fear and others stupidity.

Im sure you didn't have space to make yourself clear, Im Canadian and although I had a lot to do with addicts of various kinds in my job (usually disarming them before the police showed up, if they turned over the weapon the weapon peacefully without hurting a member of the public or no-one wanted to press charges the weapon disappered) I can't tell what your talking about. However whereever you are it sounds very GREY area. More info could be helpful.

The only completly legal use I know of for THC is to stimulate appitite in aids patients. All other uses have been proven ineffective. Better drugs with fewer side effects exist for all the things mj was said to help.

Our gov's tests produced rediculous results

Just what kind of program are you in, and where?

well i was under the impression it requires a doctors prescription.
If it works for you and you don't enjoy being around these other people then just get your prescription filled and take it home where you will be comfortable and have privacy. There is nothing that says you have to make friends with these people...just treat it like you are going to a pharmacy ...get in and get out...would you stand around a pharmacy after picking up your prescription. NO.....GOD BLESS...glad you found something that works...cared for loved one dying of cancer and this was not legal for her....she had to get relief the other way, was the only thing that helped the nausea and got her to eat
