Because that's what Christianity teaches ... that the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ, and if you don't accept him as your personal Savior .... well, you know the rest. They are taught this, so they are just being true to their faith.

Almighty God does not need anything from us, not protection and not anything else. But it makes Him very happy when we serve and want to worship Him. (Proverbs 27:11) He loves us and wants what's best for us. All His laws teach us to benefit ourselves. (Isaiah 48:17,18)

As a follower of Christ, I am a Christian and I love Jehovah God for all that He has done for us. "Advocating" for Him or defending His name (meaning what He is, stands for) when others teach lies about Him and speak against Him is something that my heart naturally wants to do --- defend His name.

He is the only One that you can talk to (in prayer) and trust completely! The most loyal One. Even the Bible says about Him at Revelation 15:3,4 "You alone are loyal." Those verses say: "....Great and wonderful are your works, Jehovah God, the Almighty. Righteous and true are your ways, King of eternity. Who will not really fear you, Jehovah, and glorify your name, because you alone are loyal? For all the nations will come and worship before you, because your righteous decrees have been made manifest."

And Revelation 4:11 says: "You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created."

I feel the same way. Jehovah God deserves all the honor! He created everything. And we have life and good things in life only because of His will to have created these things.

Just like if there was someone you loved very very much and someone said wicked, evil lies about them, would you not want to jump in and defend their name and tell that person they are wrong? So in the same way, how much more so should we defend the name of God when others speak lies about Him?

This probably wont be a popular statement - but it is my belief.
Christians suffer from mild schizophrenia.

They have created an identity for a voice in their own heads.
The bible is the best selling novel of all time.
Being a prophet in those days was more profittable than being an evangelist is today. That's why so many pseudo-religous texts and self-proclaimed prophets have surfaced over the last 6,000 years.
Some campaigns were simply more successful that others.

Sorry - got off track, anyway - its cause the type you mention have violent tendencies to go along with the mental disorder.

Well Christians haven't bought God. We christians were bought at a price. All we are to do is say the truth and leave it at that. Not force it down peoples throats and force them to believe. I am not offended when someone says something about my God. They are free to there own opinion.

Seems like it more Muslims than Christians to me! Protestants, especially, have liberalized the traditions and restrictions of the scriptures. For example, Paul said in 1 Corinthians "women are not to speak in church" but today the Epscoplians have a woman Bishop who is church leader. That's radical.

You won't find many if any female Rabbis and you will never find a female Islamic Cleric.

We are not God's protectors. He does not need protection. If we do not worship Him the rocks and stones will do so. We are advocates for Him because we love Him. Leave Him alone? He longs for us to talk to Him and look to Him for guidance every day. He does not want us to leave Him alone. He is our Heavenly Father. If you were a father would you want your children to act as if you weren't there?

God needs no protection. Christians are protected by God. We are God's advocates. Without Him, we are nothing. Love and kindness is the true Christian way. May God Bless

We act like the protector and advocate of God because we are the protectors and advocates of God's truth. To not act that way would be blasphemous. If I understand your question, which i dont think I do.

I guess the opposite question can be posed. why do non-believers feel compelled to speak against a belief system they claim not to believe. Why can't they just leave him alone?

That behavior is not unique to Christians.
