No it doesn't.

A white pie or pizza has no tomato sauce it instead uses a small amount of olive oil, typically its used for specialty pie's using seafood or fresh vegtable's such as clam or fresh tomato and basil etc Im not sure about the rest of the country but her in New Haven,Ct they are very very popular. usually mozzarella is still used. Technically its not a sauce. its more of a topping but with the oil and mozz the pizza appears to have a white sauce on it

I've never had "New York white pizza", but being Italian, my family and myself have been making pizza, white and regular, since we used to sell them to the Roman gladiators. I'm kidding. We only sold them to knights.

Anyway, aside from brushing the dough with olive oil, you can make a white pizza the same way you make a regular one. But because there is no sauce, per se, you may want to use toppings that are moist, such as sliced tomatoes.

If you want tips on making pizzas, e-mail me. There's a few minor things that make the difference between an edible pizza and a pizza that sings "Oh solé mio!" in your mouth.

Bon apetito!
