How do you explain being able to see stars that are hundreds of thousands of light years away. Do you belive that god made the light from those planets travel faster than the speed of light to confuse man, like dinosaur bones? And, Do you honestly believe that some people tried to build a tower to heaven which angered god enough to smash it to the ground and then put a spell on them so they would all instantly know and start speaking a new language and forget the language they were just speaking? If you want to be christian, is it possible still if you think stories like this are complete BS to the point where you question the peoples sainity who tell you that?

Well, God created Adam and Eve as adults. He has the power to make anuthing as old as he wants. Time means nothing to God. So, maybe he made the stars to seem older than they are, so we could see them. Just a theory. And I think God got made at the babylonians because their focus was not on God, but on their achievments. ps. Dinosaurs were never here. That's a childhood illusion.

According to Dr. Carl Sagan man came into existance in the first hour of the last day of the first Cosmic Month and we are probably barely into the second hour of that day at this point in time!

According to Genesis Man was created on the sixth day of the first week of God time.

Have you never read Einstein or Hawking about relativity and time.

If when you were 15 years old your 33 year old mother took a trip to Alpha Centauri at half the speed of light when she returns in 16 years you would be 34 and she'd be 33 1/2.

The History of the Jewish religion dates back to the first Pesach as defined in Exodus and is just under 5,800 years old.

Before that the religion of Abraham is older, but no one knows for sure.

No one knows for sure how much before that was Adam and Eve.

The issue at hand is that it either took God 16 billion human years to get around to making man or it took the Cosmic Casino 16 billion years to produce life on Earth Accidentally.

What everyone has to decide is were you made by a mindless Cosmic Bingo Game or were you created by a willful act of intellegence.

Are you an "accident" or were you "wanted."

What would your reaction be if your parents told you they were just having fun and the condom broke and that's why you're here. You were an accident. Not planned. Not wanted before the act of conception. There was no willfull intent to make you.

Maybe that explains why so many Christians are happy and why there are a few Grinches out there!

Only completely deluded people think that the Earth is mere thousands of years old. There is overwhelming evidence that the Earth is billions of years old. In fact, there is no reliable evidence whatsoever that will agree with the 10,000 or less answer. If people think that radiocarbon dating is THAT flawed, then use other options. There is plenty of biology and geology that proves that the Earth is older. There is also some chemistry. And, honestly, what difference does it make how old the Earth is? It makes no difference. EDIT: The person who asked "what happened to the other billions of years?" when referring to the fact that there is evidence of 180 million years on the ocean floor... Seriously? Have you ever heard of plate tectonics? The plates move over one another and the plate that gets shoved under ends up getting melted and recycled later. This is going on every day. There is a plate near California that will be gone soon, actually. There is your answer.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Gen 1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

The Bible does not state the period between the creation of the heaven & the earth and the time He said let there be light. It could have been millions of years between these two phases.

God created a mature universe. He created Adam as a grown man. When Adam was 5 minutes old, you would have guessed him to be 30 years of age. The same principle applies to all of creation.

I fail to see the connection with dinosaur bones. You obviously believe that dinosaurs lived 100 million years or so ago. Why do you believe that? ( Because you read it in a book written by men?)

I believe God created the dinosaurs at the same time He made all the animals. (The Bible refers to them as dragons) Most of them perished in the flood of Noah's time which would explain why we find so many fossils. The rest died off soon after because of the drastic climatic and atmospheric changes in the post-flood world.

Why would you doubt that people would try to build such a tower?
People have come up with some pretty ridiculous ideas over the centuries. ( Evolution, for example)

And yes, if you want to be a Christian, you'll have to take God at His word. Maybe this will help

Well, it all starts in the book of Genesis. The earth was here before the stars and other planets. They were not created until day 4. This is possible because even though the earth is 6000 yrs old the elements in which created the earth are much older. Same with any star or planet. Theoretically you are living on the oldest thing in the universe.

Do you honestly expect a rational human being to accept the idea of a physical universe that started merely by an explosion from nothing - a quantity and energy of 0, even if that human being accepts the axioms of science?

Can you truly swallow the entire width, breadth and heighth of the concept that all that crawls, walks, swims, flys, lives, etc. evolved stage by stage from a beginning event of combined enzymic building blocks that just had the right laboratory conditions in their natural environment that modern scientists painstakingly control to get a nanosecond of living? Let alone, trying to ingest the concept that the evolution of species only requires adding more time to the process by millions or billions of years to sit easy with the theories made to explain how a lesser species progresses forward...when at the same time the axioms of science declare that the universe is in a perpetual state of decay?

Can you perceive the destructive psychological force of accepting the philosophical notion that man has no soul or spiritual essence, or that spirit is imaginary all together, and that all living beings and matter are purely accidental with no purpose to accomplish other than to be meat for carnivorous self-sustinance?

Can you convince yourself that life is no more than consuming, excreting, regenerating and procreating, then finally dying?

Can nature, science, and the experience of living be completely defined, calculated and comprehended from cold, empirical scrutiny?

People fail to realize that science is merely a process to understand what is measureable. And as men, and men that are scientists, we are still limited to understand the nature of existence and what "is". Science is not the truth, it is the search for the proveably wrong until the closest probable answer is left...and yet, even then a scientist, by his skeptical nature, will not give you a 100% about his findings.

Christian faith, by the opinions of so many, is much more certain than science. Many of the unanswered questions will remain unanswered in both sections but the Christian man can have faith and experience that is 100% undeniable within themselves...and science can not truly measure that. Only as humans, we understand that about ourselves, even if we do not agree with the doctrines of faith.

Yes, I do believe that the Earth is only 6,000 years old.

GOD made the stars, and HE is a GOD, who can do anything! (Certainly making our star, the planets and all that there is, is nothing short of glory to us to see, and HE is quite capable of anything, if HE can make all that!)...

Yes, I believe in the Tower of Babel...
The people of the Earth started to congregate in such a massive outpouring of resources, and didnt spread out over the Earth as the LORD wanted them, so HE took care to make sure that they "did" do as commanded...

NASA also said the Earth must only be about 6000 years old too, because if it was "billions" of years old, then the moon would be nothing but a dust bowl many hundreds of feet deep and they worried about that on the lunar landing in '69! Since it was only a few inches deep, they could surmise that the Earth isnt as old as people think.

I wish you well..

This is the least of the delusions that these people spout. For more of this nonsense, visit:

All of this is, from a scientific point of view, total crap.
Now let's summarize some of the evidence which actually pertains to the earth's age.
- Radioactive dating.
- Tree ring calendars
- Snow layers in Greenland and Antarctica.
- Magnetic signatures in the diverging plates in the ocean floor.
- Fossil evidence.
These, and many other disciplines, give a complete and consistent history of the earth and of the life on it for the last four billion years.
