Okay i heard about a disease on T.V. You are born with it. They said that people with the disease cant go out into the sun or they might die it doesnt matter what skin color you have. So it doesnt have to do anything with pigments. I belive its the ultra violet rays. Oh even regular light from a light bulb can harm them. If you know what its called please do tell. THANKS

Xeroderma pigmentosum. It's a congenital (born with it) disease where there is a defect in the repair mechanism of DNA. When you go out into sunlight the UV light breaks the DNA, but the cell's repair mechanisms are able to fix it. People with XP are not able to repair the DNA, and will develop malignant cancers at much higher frequencies.

Porphyria is a spectrum of diseases involving a deficiency in the production of heme and results in blistering and rashes several days after sun exposure.

The author Dean Koontz wrote some novels about a character with xeroderma pigmentosum. I am not sure if this is what you are talking about, but here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xeroderma_pigmentosum
