there are several reasons why pot has remained illegal.
First off is racism, weed was connected to blacks, and some of their behaviors, and alot of propaganda has and continues to be put out about cannabis.
Then there is the pharmaceutical and petrochemical companies among others who want marijuana illegal since it cuts into their business, and they can easy buy off any politician so that it stays illegal.
Plus people who grow and sell weed actually have a vested interest in keeping it illegal, believe it or not. Illegal weed not only sell for signifcantly more money, but consumption tends to increase because of it's illegalization. Look at the rate of marijuana use in the US compared to the Netherlands, or look what happened when prohibition was introduced in the US. Illegalization drug use is ironically really good for the drug business.

It's the New Age Prohibition........
If the government could turn a buck off of it by taxing it, by God it'd be Legal. I think the Gov't should put it up for a vote. We could probably clear the national debt in 5 minutes.
Frankly, I'd rather deal with someone behind the wheel of a car that smoked a joint rather than some drunk. Funny how you never EVER hear of any accidents caused my someone using ONLY Marijuana. But you hear of alcohol related crashes on a daily basis. Hmmmmm......????

simple liquor is easy to control and tax. if pot were legal most of the sales would be under the table. if it illegal they can tax us to try to find the illegal pot. move to cali it is nearly legal. it is easy to get a medicinal card to be allowed to smoke pot on the streets.

It is a culture thing. Plus, liquor is considered reasonably safe for most in moderation where any amount of pot is considered harmful.

they dont have control over pot and the best pot comes form outside the usa if they could make it here then they would tax it and sell it
