Obscenities and other kinds of foul language have become so common today that many people hardly give them a second thought. And yet the Bible is clear: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths. ... Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking" (Ephesians 4:29; 5:4).

Why does the Bible say this? The main reason is because that kind of language doesn't honor God. In fact, it dishonors Him by using His name in a casual or blasphemous way, and by degrading other people—people whom He loves. That's why one of the Ten Commandments declares, "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God" (Exodus 20:7). If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, your goal should be to honor Him in everything you do—including your speech.

Commit your tongue to the Lord, and ask Him to help you overcome this habit from the past. Ask Him also to fill your mind—and your speech—with what is good. Remember: What we say is a reflection of what we think. The Bible says, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2).

Then pray for your friends, that they too may come to Christ. The more you care about their salvation, the more you'll want to witness to them about Christ—both by your words and your life.

first off, are you cussing or cursing? Cussing means you choose language that they don't like and the fact is if they don't like God then they don't like Him in any language. Cursing is to wish ill-will on people which is strictly forbidden in the Bible. in other words, F U is telling a person to desecrate sex which falls under ill-will... So first thing is determine what you are actually doing and the second is to look it up in the Bible. if the Bible doesn't answer the q? for you then try looking at the "forbidden books" of the Bible. Many books were excluded becuz at the time of the Bible(at least King James' version) many acts of indecency were not big issues of the day. be willing to expand your mind and the answer will surely come to you. gl hermano.

Stop it like you'd stop any other bad habit...cold turkey. When it happens, stop for a moment and tell God and the person you are with that you are sorry. Make a conscious effort to do better. Soon, you will catch yourself before anything nasty comes out. Later, it will become a habit...not to cuss. Pray about it...

My friend use to cuss a lot, and wanted to cut down. So for a week, whenever I heard her say a bad word, I'd write it down and put tally marks whenever she said it again. I showed her the list at the end of the week and she FREAKED out. Whenever she said bad words from then on she said "oops", or "sorry" afterwards, and slowly (3-5 months) she stopped using bad words all together. The time though depends person to person and a persons drive to stop.

It's just like I was telling you about Jealousy and inner peace darlin...you cant just talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk.
If you want people to take you serious as a Christian, you'll need to behave like one.
How to stop cussing? Easy...and I'm not trying to be rude...this is for real...Think before you speak, actually listen to yourself ahead of time before the words come rolling out, then ask yourself, is this what I really want to say?
Remember what I told you when you asked about obtaining true inner peace, I said that materialism was going to kill any hope for inner peace, and I see you're still calling yourself something to do with money. Its this gangsta image you're putting out there.
How is that supposed to help you acheive these goals of yours?
FYI: you can edit your profile if you're interested in changing your image to a more possitive one. take care~

Hey, you have great boldness to speak to your friends! But no wonder they don't believe you. If your words are not consistent to your lifestyle then how can anyone believe what you are saying? Can clean water and dirty water mix and remain separate of each other?

But ofcourse, God is working in all of us, cleaning us out and teaching us to do things the way He wants. He doesn't expect us to be perfect. But definitely, He expects us to be humble and follow after Him.

For encouragement, read James 1:22-26 and Ephesians 5:31. I think it will help you with your tongue. If you are sometimes using your tongue or body or mind for something dark and evil, fill yourself up with the Word of God and pray. It will cause the cussing to cease from your lips. (Also, along with cussing, negative speaking, and nasty criticizing, backbiting, gossipping and lying - but surely you don't do all those!)

Be strong in the Lord and the power of His Might!

Seriously pray and ask God to take that away from you. Tell Him you are tired of it and it is hindering your witness to your friends. You recognize your weakness and you need His help. May God Bless

I asked my friends and family to help me... when I swore... they'd correct me. Just try to think what you want to say before you say it. If push comes to shove, you can always make a "Swearing Jar". Everytime you swear, you put money in it. I'd collect it every week and include it in my church's donations. That seemed to help me... :)
