To be honest, the fundies just wouldn't accept it, whether there was incontrovertible proof or not. There is plenty of evidence that proves evolution, but they won't accept it. There is plenty of proof that the earth is older than 6000 years, but they won't accept it. So why would they accept any evidence about a crucifixion, other than that written in their precious book.

Firstly, there are numerous witnesses to the crucufixion.
Secondly, when a person was crucified, they died a painful death and would eventually aphixiate. To hasten death the Roman Soldiers would break there legs. This would prevent them from pushing themselves back up to get a breathe of air.
Thirdly, Jesus had his side peirced with a spear. Blood and water came from his body. Any first year medical student will tel you when this happens the person is DEAD.
Forthly, we know that Jesus was crucified before the day of the Passover. We also know the day after the Passover was the Sabbath. Now, Jewish Law at the time prohibited, work, travel and running on these days. So by logical conclusion no Jew, Disciple, mother, Nicodemus or otherwise would have went to the grave. They actually placed the body in the grave prioir to the passover.
Fifthly, a stone was rolled across the face of the grave. If you have been to Isreal you would note that to do this they would roll the stone down an embankement, the stone being held in place by an opposite embankement. Therefore to roll the stone aside they would have had to roll it back up a steep embankment.
Sixth, anyone coming to the grave would have had to get past the Roman Soldiers and risked being stopped or death if they attempted top steal the body. Which they couldn't have done because of points 4 & 5.
Seventh, had the Roman Soldiers taken a bribe or fell asleep at their post they would have been executed. So the probability of this is highly unlikely.
Eighth, there were thousands who saw Jesus alive after his crucifixion. Are you saying they were all liars.
Nineth, the disciples scattered after Jesus' arrest and even denied knowing him. Are you telling me this pathetic bunch would then risk death by lying about Jesus' resurrection. I think not. No they saw the risen Christ.
A space ship? That's a tried and tired argument. Again would you risk death for such as a thing?
No get books published by Josh Mcdowell, read em with an open mind and you will see how illogical your ideas are.
No you prove its a lie. You can't and will not.
Because Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Well, first off, the executions were dont in public, so the guards couldnt "let HIM go" even if they were bribed, because the populace would know! The Romans were very strict on carrying out the "letter of the law" in those days, and used the cross as a show of force for thier tortuous marks.
If some one came in a rocket ship and claimed to be JESUS CHRIST, I would not believe it, because HE is going to "come in the clouds" and HE doesnt need a rocket ship!
Just because some one "says" they are JESUS CHRIST, doesnt mean that they 'are' HIM...
The Romans would have documented this event, as they documented everything else, and history would be a "lie" if HE didnt get crucified and died and rose again... So, there never will be any "proof" offered, unless its fabricated and we can tell if its been or not.
I wish you well..

Here is a real answer for you... from a real Christian who also happens to be a minister.
It would not change a thing about my faith.
Why - because the crucifixion is not the centeral tenant of my faith. It is only one peice as is the virgin birth. But neither of these are the most important things I believe in.
I believe God is love - complete and unconditional
I believe that Jesus was the human incarnation of that love, and showed that in the whole of his life and teachings
I believe that the highest endevor humankind can attempt is to live in the example of that love, for the transformation of a broken and injured world.
Those are the central things I believe - and none of them are changed by your hypothetical question.

They say that many will fall away at the end times. Who knows, maybe he will return in a spaceship. It will not matter to me. He healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, rasied the dead. That is pretty impressive to me and the mark of someone that I would follow and learn from. He was a man of compassion and Love. I would still be a follower of Jesus, even if it was proven that he was not the Christ.

If it's rhetorical, why ask? And I know it wouldnt happen, because I talk to jesus everyday. But, if it was (which it isnt) I wouldnt be a christian, and I would go back to judaism.

If Jesus, in this hypothetical case, was absolutely proven to not have died, then the Bible would be wrong and my very belief would be completely nullified.
If it was a lie, I would obviously recant what I believe. I ain't believing not lie!

Well, Jesus did die and rise again, so purely hypothetically, I'd consider Islam.

The devil is a liar.
I won't waste time pondering on his lies. And what's that nonsense " don't fall back on our faith", that's the whole point of Christianity having Faith in Christ.
I'm too tired to throw some verses at you, but consider them thrown anyway.

Well then I guess I have still lost nothing. I only stand to gain by believing so if I am wrong and it is all a lie.......I still don't lose anything in the end.
