If you're not financially and mentally prepared to give the kid what he/she needs....then don't have one. Also, if both parents need to work, why do you need to live in a big house...why not get an apartment so a parent can stay home with the kid and provide the right care as opposed to strangers stepping in so you could compete with the Joneses?

What an ignorant statement about kids that are formed in love have better loving parents. Gag me. My child wasn't planned, well, ok I got knocked up, but no one loves my kid more than I do. He was in day care until I could get out of the military to be with him all the time. My husband worked full time for us and we don't have much but we love each other. When my son started kindergarten, I got a part time job and he went to a babysitter after school for a while b/c my job is shift work, he loved it. That's what worked for us though. Some families have to work to feed their kids, not to keep up with the Joneses. You don't know what people's circumstances are. Maybe one their planned children has cancer and they need to work to cover the bills or something, or the dad is on disability, or the mother died. Don't be so quick to judge. Day care has some positive things to it. You just have to find a good one. You don't sound like someone who has kids or you do and you're feeling so guilty about how you've screwed up so far you feel the need to criticize how others deal with their children. Either way, I hope you work it out.

Money isn't the only thing that it takes to raise a child, it's important but not the only thing.
I don't think people who need state assistance should have a child but I do think it's fine to have both parents work.
Living in an apartment is NOT ideal with children, children need a nice neigborhood to grow up in, good schools, friends and a backyard.
Who's to say what is the right care?
Childcare helps children prepare for what lies ahead in life. School, interaction with other peers and most importantly how to cope with different situations involving their peers.
Studies have shown that children who stay at home are less likely to know how to act in tense situations involving others and they are often fall behind in school.
Now saying that Children shouldn't go to daycare is like saying they shouldn't go to school and their parents should be homeschooling them, sheltering them from life.
You must not have children.

Just wondering what women who were around during the war years would think about your question, when they had to muddle through on rations often having to work long hours doing terrible jobs, not only to help the war effort but for the sake of their children.I have children and have been a stay at home mum because financially I have been able to.From next year my financial position will change meaning I will be forced back into working and leaving my children at before and after school clubs. Not something I am looking forward to but as life isn't mapped out quite as you would like it to be.I think you really need to change your attitude or at least try to find some compassion for people who have no choice!

Yeah.. like all children are PLANNED. What do you suggest we do about the 'oops' kids? Abort? Better to kill them than put them in daycare.

Really...you're in for a big surprise when the real world comes knocking.

Spoken like a man who has no kids. Enjoy your silver spoon dear. It only last so long.

some people can't handle the thought a killing their own baby. who would be able to handle it though? these things happen and they give their child to daycare before they're old enough to go to school so they can put food on the table and raise the child.

couples who put child in daycare centre are the ones who got their child by accident, as a byproduct of unprotected sex.

but couples who got a child out of love terminating in sex and child, luv it and take care of it, till it stands on its own - This is a happy family
