would stay away from these things and not bother about them. I think atheists are basically religious people trying to justify their own beliefs. What do you think?

Sorry to be so harsh, but everyone needs to grow up. Everybody runs around blaming everyone else for all of the hardship they suffer under everybody else. I'm sick of it. If someone comes to your door, and your atheist, tell them to leave. Easy. If you're religious and like to try to convince people to be religious with you, let them start the conversation instead of slamming it down their throats. Also easy - that way you don't have anyone freaking out on you.

Stop saying that "only the fanatics do it," because that's not true. Everyone does it about some belief that they have, and that belief (even if it's about the price of oil or something ridiculous) is probably based upon belief built upon belief that is built upon some unprovable belief.

Finally, if religious people get on your back, and you don't like it, what about their rights and feelings? If YOUR feelings are so important that you want them to leave you alone, aren't their feelings as important about saying their thoughts? Love the double standards. On both sides.

I'm Christian, and I'm sick of the bickering. If you're Christian, pray, and talk to people when led by God to do so. But don't be a freak. A butterfly doesn't mean God wants you to talk to someone. If you're atheist (which I was until six years ago), then avoid those conversations with Christians. If you tell them to shut up, they should respect your opinion. And if they don't, then you're dealing with a fanatic that doesn't understand the 2nd greatest commandment of "Love your neighbors as yourself."

So - chill, relax, and be nice to each other. Stop acting like children. Ethics apply in religion even apart from religion.

I found out why Atheist attack religious concepts. Though I am an Atheist and I disagree. They think religion is a threat to civilization and that it is the cause of all wars. Surprisingly many Christians agree with them. I believe we have had war since man come down out of the trees it is the nature of man and we would have just as many wars without religion and maybe more. XX Betty.

We would, but religious zealots (not all religious people mind you, just the fanatics) won't leave us the hell alone. They go on TV and talk about how we're going to hell. They ring our doorbells at 7 in the morning and ask if you can come in, literally invading our territory. They talk about how sorry they feel for us in that condescending tone that only someone who feels that they're superior to anyone who doesn't share their beliefs can have. They try to get laws passed that threaten the public's physical and intellectual health (intelligent design, banning the HPV vaccine) because it threatens their conception of reality. And when we tell them where to stick it they turn around and say "God bless you" as if they're turning the other cheek, when they're really doing it just to piss us off even more.

Atheist do not remember on a God. maximum of them surely do not care about different religions. although there are some atheists who will do something purely to educate to non secular those who they are incorrect. They placed up lots right here on solutions. and in view that they don't seem to make certain into any morality criteria, they have a tendency turn themselves in precisely the monster belongings you assert. i'm once an Atheist (now Non-religionist*), and that i hadn't idea-about convincing different those who they are incorrect, of bastardizing the religion of others, and so on. those very human beings you're concerning purely won't be able to locate different reliable stuffs to do. those for me are the athiests. *be conscious: Non-Religionist = remember on God yet with out faith

Agreed.

More importantly, they are EVANGALISTS! They are engaged in active conversion to their way of thinking.

If there ways are so great why aren't people flocking to it on their own (free will, there doesn't have to be 2 Billion Christians, they can walk away at any point in time and some do) yet on a world wide basis there are only officially less than 5% Atheists. It is the ultimate minority of phiosophical point of view.

I'm an atheist but I don't consider myself religious:) I usually don't talk about religion at all because I don't care about it. Just fundamentalist beliefs (every kind) piss me off. I never try to convert someone or to show then that their beliefs are wrong. Actually I've had kind of attitude only from Christians.

I've noticed that atheists are just as pompous and sure of themselves as some religious folks. The funny part is that they don't know any more than anyone else whether there is or is not a God, and they're just as insecure about it.

Therefore, anyone who is intellectually honest -even if they don't think there is a God- will be an agnostic. At least they have the intellectual and emotional honesty to admit that they don't know.

I don't think so. I call myself an atheist, but I do believe in God, the same as I believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. The only difference I see is that over the thousands of years millions of people were never slaughtered in the name of either Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Your God has that distinction.

Here is a fact for you.

Belief in the supernatural (a.k.a. religion) hinders humanity's progress.

The 1000 year period during which Europe was essentially a theocracy was known and THE DARK AGES. There was little to no advancement in science, medicine, sociology, technology, or human rights. It wasn't until people shifted from god-centered living back to human-centered living that society got back in gear, and progress resumed. This event was known as THE RENAISSANCE, and we've never looked back.

Atheism is the final stage in human growth. Is it wrong to want to wake people up to reality?

Maybe before you say that we atheists must stay away from your religious belief, maybe it's best that you guys also try to stay away from Biology class, science class rooms, American Politics, foreign policy making, terrorist activities, etc. Then we're even.
