I think it is a good idea! As a teenager who's parents lived on opposite ends of the world and was raised by my single grandparent who had no health insurance coverge it was great. As it is no secret I was a teen who was engaginfgin sex at 14. I liked the fact that I never had to have a parents permission to seek advice, guidence or treatment for all of my female health needs. Many of the people who were employed here were prepared with information in a non threatning enviornment. In high school talking about sex was taboo and I surely couldn't talk about it with my grandma who was very conservation about sex . My parents didn't care and assumed that nothing was going on.

I was actually involved with a teen group formed by a planned parenthood. A counselor develop a group called SISTERS (sisters in support to encourage rising stars). It was made up of girls who lived in my area who might otherwise be involved already engaging in at risk behavior to become a teen parent. A local bank teamed up with planned parenthood and with the help of grants from the state we all were paid a dollar a day to not get pregnate which was deposited in a savings account for us.

The group provided us with sexual education, outings, self esteem and confidence building projects, while keeping us out of "trouble". If you were to get pregnate you were ousted from the group and forfieted any of your pay.

While a participant in the group there were a few girls who did become pregnate (and multiple times) before they were even twenty years of age.

I am alreday talking to my daughter at eight years old. I worked in an OB and you will be alarmed at the rate of young girls 11 and up who come in pregnate and claim theu didn't know this of that or that they were even pregnate. I am for planned parenthood b/c they provide service unlike anyother agency.

They really need to update their website.

They claim to be open every day of the week but THEY'RE NOT!!! I called EVERY damn Planned Parenthood and all I got was some stupid recording at ALL of the ones in NYC during one weekend. It ended up costing me about $250 to get a damn prescription and the pills instead of $50.

Can you believe that it costs $200 for a doctor to write you a prescription for emergency contraception but it only costs like $30-$60 to get TREATED for chlamydia (I work for Social Services and for some reason have to look up health insurance information to handle patient bills)?

They are good to me. I use oral contraception for medical reasons to save me from incredible monthly pain. My husband's insurance is through the Catholic church, where he works. The insurance, since it is through the Catholic church, does not cover contraceptives, even for medical reasons, but will gladly take a co-payment with the full cost of the pills if I choose to get my pills from the clinic that the insurance covers.
Planned Parenthood has no such hang-ups from the so-called celibate men who run the Vatican. I buy my pills on a sliding-scale payment with no co-pay.

Planned Parenthood is not just an "abortion clinic." It's a women that focuses on women's health and AIDS issues.

The main reason I think they are great is because they keep teens from getting pregnant by giving them access to birth control options without parental consent. They also keep them from getting STD's by teaching them about them when they come in to get birth control. If they weren't around, there would be alot more unwanted pregnancys and tons more abortions by private doctors. I believe there goals are to educate young people about pregnancy, family planning and STD's. The only problem I've ever had with them was the wait. Its usually about an hour. I've never gotten an abortion, because I've never had an unwanted pregnancy. I didn't even know they did abortions! I know they don't at the Aberdeen WA location because I've heard about girls having to go to Olympia to do that.

I totally agree with Justin.

Face it Planned Parenthood makes all their money from women digesting chemicals and fake hormones created in labs. Not to mention they kill unborn children for profit. There have been people on trial for war crimes in which they made no profit from killing innocent people. How can Planned Parenthood get away with it? No one knows. I am sure they have planted a few thousand of bucks in MANY politican pockets.

Planned Parenthood provides a blanket for teens (mostly) and other immature people who decide not to use condoms and abstinence as forms of contriceptives. Planned Parenthoods pamplets should say have all the sex you want. don't protect yourselves so we can get rich off killing your babies.

Not to mention the drugs they give children. Its like come see me and I will give you pills so you can have all the sex you want but just dont tell your parents I gave it to you. Sadly when teens have deadly reactions (blood clots, heart attacks, strokes) planned parenthood hides behind the patient privacy screen.

Shame on our Supreme Court for allowing abortions.

i dont think that there is a planned parenthood.. because what i believe is, you will do your best you can do for your child, it depends on your child as well because it's the same as setting expectation of what your child would be. Just do your best what you can give.

I know there is a lot of controversy about it. My own experience was, when I was a young married student and had no health insurance, I did my annuay gyn exams and purchased my birth control from them because it was affordable. No matter what other things they do that people may have problems with, I was grateful that this resource was available to me.

Planned Parenthood? what is that? A safe haven for teens to "plan" to be parents?

I think in the beginning it was meant to do do exactly what it's called; planned parenting but now, they promote abortion more often,( subtly). My oppinion is of the conservative persuasion. I tend to believe that the unborn have souls.

I agree with Justin.
I called them one time cause I thought they could help me get pregnant, all they told me was that they don't do that. They help people get out of being pregnant or to not get pregnant at all.

So can someone please tell me how is that Planning for Parenthood??
