Hey bro i hear ya. I'm 18 too. All right first you have to have sit down conversationg with your mom. You have to nicely explain to her that you're a grown up and not her baby boy anymore. If you talk to her logically she'll understand. Good luck :P

I totally understand where your coming from, when i was 23 my mother refused to let me move out. I had to take that step and do it and once she say I was mature enough to make that decision, she started letting go little by little. On the other hand, I am a mother now to two small children, and being a mom is a life changing experience. I don't know if I will ever be able to let go; to some mothers their babies will ALWAYS be their babies. No matter how old. Take the step, with all respect talk to her, and than do what you have to do. Assuming that since you want to be treated like an adult, you are actually acting like one. Cause if you have childish behavior the more likely you will be treated like a child.

the easiest way is to simply quit acting like one but at 18 that is hard. You don't want to be told what to do but if they don't tell you then you don't know what to do.You want to live under their roof and be treated like an adult but I highly doubt that you are inputting like a grown adult. The easiest way to get rid of unreasonable parents is to move out and make your own way while you still know it all.

Well think of it like this if she is giving you money, or if you are in the "will" just play along with her. Assert yourself diplomatically. And don't think that just because she raised you and your living with her she can control you. Trust me I am 19 and just went to college and when I visit I always make sure that the parents are in checkmate meaning there responding to me. And if they don't then emotionally deprive them. And visit them when they're most vulnerable. It's a wonderful asset if you know how to deal with advantages in life. Trust me buddy just get whatever you can out of them and get out of there because you deserve it.

Show her you are trying to be considerate and respectful. Clear the table, empty the dishwasher, pick up the living room, turn your own hamper contents right side out ....turning sox and underwear is distasteful...why should some one else have to do that for you? Tidy the living room or den, pick up litter inside and outside the house without having it pointed out to you. This will have an impact on your parents and you will see a change in their attitudes. Ask yourself what else you could do....your own intuition and observation will tell you what you need to know.

Your mom treats you like that because she probably loves you. Hang in there bug....you are so close to being on your own that you might be a little freaked out about the whole situation. Life is happening to you right now......it is what it is.

Age doesn't mean anything. Get a job and move out. Become an "adult" and maybe you'll be treated like one.

Try breaking it to her nicely. Tell her that you want to do things for yourself and do what you want. Most people should be treated as adults at age 18.

As long as you live under her roof, you are her kid. Once you're independent and live on your own, then you're a man!
........and will be treated as such.
