I'm 29yrs old, six months ago I was in the ER for severe pain on the right side of my abdomen. The doctor said it was a pulled muscle. I cant eat without pain in the right side, bout 1/2hr after I eat.Had an ultrasound, said it MIGHT be a duct is blocked on my gallbladder, technician said it was congenital, I had it since birth.I'm afraid it has something to do with my gallbladder, and dont have a family doctor, only a nurse practioner, any advice on what I should do? The nurse wont do anything.

You really need to go see a regular doctor to have all this evaluated properly. It should not hurt to eat, and the technician who did the ultrasound is not qualified to make any sort of interpretation of the ultrasound results. That should have come from a radiologist at the very least, and been gone over with you by the doctor who ordered the test. It's tough to say if it is actually your gallbladder causing the problem, since pain from the gallbladder in women usually causes pain in the upper right back, just about the shoulder blade level. Although a blockage of the duct leading from the gallbladder to the stomach is certainly possible, the time frame after eating is about right, it may also be treatable. The blockage would most likely be caused by stones, and some can even be dissolved with medication. Worst case and you require surgery, removing a gallbladder is not actually that bad anymore. The best advice I can give you is to choose a good physician and make an appointment for a full evaluation. Take all the papers you have now, all the test results, dates, etc, plus a list of any questions you have. You do not have to continue suffering pain after you eat. There's nothing to be afraid of, gall bladder problems are common enough and treatable. If the nurse practitioner isn't willing to help you, find somebody who will.

A nurse practitioner has to be working in conjunction with a doctor. You need to call the office or speak to the NP and make an appointment with that doctor. There's no getting around it. A technician can't tell you what is wrong with you, nor can they prescribe treatment. Make a call tomorrow, as you must be your own advocate. Don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings in this case. It's important that you stand up for yourself and get some answers.

a nurse practicioner should do anything a gp will do but if not find a gp and find out what can be done, like removing the gallbladder.

Have you tried Web Doctor? www.webdoctor.com
You really should be seen by a doctor. Go on line and find one that meets your needs.
I had something like that, but I had scar tissue that rapped around one of my tubes and large intestine. It ended up pulling and causing internal bleeding. Please do not wait.
