on the top of the christmas tree? i know the story of the wise magi following the star to the manger that christ was in, but why have a 'five' pointed star because that is the pagan symbol used to worship nature and the divine spirit.
Sars are not even pointed they like the sun (wich is a star) are orb shaped, but not perfectly round.
thats why my family always put an angel on the top of the tree, and not the star.

Actually, it's used for a number of different purposes. Ancient Christians used to use it to represent the wounds of Christ. Just because some Pagans use a version of a star symbol doesn't make the star, in general, a Pagan symbol.

Try not to sweat so much over it! Enjoy the holiday and go with whatever feels right in your heart. Christmas has lost its holiness factor in a lot of this world...heck, the tree is pagan, as are the lights. So don't try too hard to figure out why a certain holy idea won't fit into a pagan activity! PS: Stars are basically balls of fire, which you don't wnt on your tree anyway!

It's not a huge thing. There are very fews symbols of anything in the Christian faith. Jesus always said that it's what's in your heart that counts. The rest is just silly fun stuff - including the Christmas tree itself. You can put anything you like on the top of your Christmas tree. Your Christmas tree can even be a rhododendrum in a pot if you like!

The Pentagram and Pentangle are much older than paganism or Judaism. It is related to the Golden ratio that manifests in all life. You would be best to look it up under maths and geometry. The devine ratio is an irrational number like Pi is. It is a fascinating study, and there is not space for even a start here. It represents life.

Just as they tried to eliminate pagan culture by placing their holidays on top of Pagan holidays. they tried to take the symbols of Pagan religions and turn them into their own.
the Penticle (5 pointed star enclosed in a circle) can be found in many ancient churches. and can also be seen in the vatican.
the star of David misteak is a rather common one. half of the people that see my penticle misteak it for the Star of David. the other half either think that i am Wiccan or have no understanding of the symbol.
the 5 pointed star is simply the most common depiction of a star.
it is seen in country folk art. Amish hex signs. on all of the Dallas Cowboys. 50 of them are on the US flag. and many states have them on their state flag. the muslim moon and star symbol uses a 5 pointed star. the highest honor of this country. the congressional medal of honor is a 5 pointed star. as are many of the military awards.
the 5 pointed star has nothing to do with paganism. unless it is a pagan useing it. or it is enclosed in a circle making it a penticle.
other than that it is just the easiest representation of a celestial body that is rather boreing in it's natural shape.
why does it matter, the whole tree idea is of Pagan origin anyway.
not to mention the giveing of gifts to loved ones, the feast, the lighting of candles in windowsills. and the decoration with holly and evergreen trimmings.

The five-pointed star is NOT a symbol of Judaism, that's a six-pointed star.I don't know why it's a big deal to them as they generally tend to get upset when I wear one around my neck.EDIT:See above answer. A five-pointed star is NOT demonic, people believe that because satanists use an inverted one as a symbol of satan, they also use an inverted cross but so far noone has considered an upright cross demonic.

it doesnt matter how many points the star has. christians don't have to put a star on their christmas tree. it's not a must or requirement. some christians put angels, we always had a dove that my parents got at their wedding.

the 5-pointed star is a symbol of Judaism (Star of David) not Christianity.
The star on top of a Christmas tree represents the star the magi followed to find the baby Jesus. It's just a star - it doesn't necessarily have 5 points.

its not. 5 pts is demonic and 6 pts is the star of David. although neither of them serve any practical purpose they both are symbolic of what a person wants to feel thru the day. OK, so your memory is good enuff that you can recall exactly who you are and where you want to go in life 24/7. For some of us a star in the window may shed some light on a depressing day.
