My friend was visiting germany (he's from the us) and got arrested for fighting in a bar.he's been in jail since nov 14th. He's supposed to get out in about 2-3 weeks. Will he be put on probation when he returns?

Absolutely not. No US probation agency will accept probationary duties pursuant to a German sentencing order related to a standard bar fight.

He won't be put on probation by the US government. The German authorities have no jurisdiction over him here in the United States of America. He may however not be welcome to come back to Germany any time soon. And if that were the case and he did re-enter the country he might get in trouble again.

Chances are he will have served his full sentence and will be released free and clear. A judge will generally not put a person on probation that has served a full sentence especially if they are not a citizen and are leaving the country. As far as I know probations will not carry over to other countries.

No clue, but I had to check out your question because I was afraid you were going to say he was arrested in Mexico or China--- you would never see your friend again.

I think it will depend on what he was arrested for- if it were for drugs, then there will be legal problems awaiting his return.

NO! because what happens in another country has to do with that country, not the U.S. So, it depends what Germany does to him or make him do.
