In my flat we have respectively: a convert muslim in the basement: Two Episcopallians on the first floor, a Jewish guy who is obliged to do his national service for the Israelis and the rest as far as I can ascertain are either Agnostics or Atheists. We argue about common repairs, we complain about the weather and we certainly don't agree about the best football team.. but we get along. Are we all sleep-walking into damnation.. or is this the way to be!

This is certainly the way to be. People around the world don't get along as well as you and your flatmates do because they don't get to know and learn about each other as closely as you people do.

If everyone "got along" in history then there wouldn't be different countries, idealism, life styles, hobbies, movies, personalities, religions, political parties, likes, etc. Everyone and everything would be exactly the same, and that would be sad. The fact is, no one truly gets along, they just live in denial and submerged isolation. People just want to think they can get along. But, in reality they can be easily segregated by the simplest of things. The world needs to not get along, but learn how to just slightly exist together without shedding blood.

It is definitely the way to be. But I think you are a little naive if you think that this applies to the world in general. Religions have leaders, leaders have agendas, and top of those agendas is usually "I must remain in charge of my group of religious followers"...

baisicly... just because you dont agree about something doesnt mean you cant act humanly respectful. i personally believe that people should be able to discuss things they believe w/o acting dogmatic and like they have to be right and be recognized in that manner... and if not "all hell brakes loose" so to speak...

As long as people don't force their beliefs in other peoples faces, then things can be reasonably stable.

well, you kinda hafta get along with people you live with or life is a living hell isn't it? if i piss off any of you guys on here i don't have to worry about you pouring deer piss on my blankets when i go to work.
