I agree with a lot of what you said except three things:
1st- Shut up and get in the ring before choosing to be completely disrespectful of the person who gets in the ring and has fought hard to get to the point where he is. No question about it; He did get the title. Tim Sylvia has heart and determination but not the natural ability. His time is growing short.
2nd - Brandon Vera is easily the next heavyweight champion. Vera is the total package with speed, power, and unbelievable ground game and so versatile on his feet. Watch his fight with Fabiano Scherner. He switched leads and stances about every 4 seconds with incredible footwork. One of his coach's, Lloyd Irvin is one of the best in the training business.
His recent defeats are all considered at the top of the division:
Win Frank Mir TKO (Strikes) --- Former Heavyweight Champion
Win Assuerio Silva Submission (Guillotine Choke)
Win Justin Eilers KO (Kick and Knee)
Win Fabiano Scherner TKO (Knees)
Win Mike Whitehead TKO (Injury)
and let's keep in mind that Vera is young. He is a bit cocky but still very respectful.
3rd Please post-read your typing. People are friggin driving me crazy while we try and decipher others writings because of missed words, misspelled words, punctuation and capitalization. It takes the same about of time to do it correctly. Come on now.
It amazes me how lazy people are getting. To lazy to type correctly.

Well I like Sylvia because he is not that cocky and he doesn't brag like a lot of fighters. I will agree with you that Brandon Vera is a cocky basterd but his quickness in the heavy weight class will give him an advantage that monson didn't have. I think he should have to fight arlovski before given a chance at Sylvia.
But it's true that Fedor would destroy Sylvia with ease. But I believe that is the only weight class that pride has a chance at beating ufc.

He's big and he hits hard and he's pretty tough. Yes, there is not a lot of talent in the UFC heavyweight division, and there are at least 5 guys in Pride that could beat him, but that does'nt make him some p ussy. Fedor and Tim can't fight, they are from different Orgs and have contracts, so how can a fight with Fedor even be considered? so if you are Sylvia why even discuss the possibility. I doubt that big gorilla is afraid of anybody. The only reason the Liddell vs. Wanderlei fight might happen is because the Iceman wants to only fight a few more times then retire.

Sylvia is a big fish in the little pond that is the UFC heavyweight division. I wouldn't doubt his heart though...he has said in numerous interviews that he would like to fight Fedor. Unfortunately, this won't happen as they are under contract with their respective organizations. Brandon Vera and Cheik Kongo are going to be tough tests for the current champ. I have also heard rumors that Aleksander Emelianenko is interested in moving from Pride to the UFC. The best chance would be for the UFC to get CroCop, who performs on a fight by fight basis. Size has nothing to do with Sylvia's ability. That's like saying Shaq wouldn't be a good basketball player if he weren't so big. The fact is that fighters have to overcome the obstacles that their natural sizes create. Sylvia is simply playing his best game with what he has. It is a huge disadvantage to be tall in Jiu Jitsu, but no one but Arlovski has gotten Sylvia to the ground.

Tim's size is a huge asset, but give him credit for being able to use it to his advantage. Monson took him down and was on top 20 seconds into the 3rd round and couldn't do a darn thing against Tim in 4:40. I agree that the HW's in Pride are superior fighters, but that doesn't diminish Tim's skills and accomplishments. I would like to see him fight Brandon Vera, but Brandon will be more of a force at Light heavy.

i totally agree. i don't think it would take fedor. the ufc just doesn't have a deep heavyweight division at all yet. wait til any heavyweights come in, he won't last long as champ. i agree about monson too. for being a foot taller, and an alleged striking afficianado he did nothing. in his first win against arlovski, he got a lucky punch when arlovski got sloppy going in for the kill. i say arlovski has the only chance in the division, possibly vera.
basically stated, i agree.

Sylvia is a great fighter who uses what nature gave him. It is hard to look graceful when you are that huge. His technique is not spectacular and his stand up has some flaws for sure but like I said he uses his natural gifts to overcome the flaws. I too think Fedor would beat him but they are different leagues so it can't happen yet.

Arvlovski did has the best shot in the division. Just a bad day i guess. But i agree with both of you. His sheer size is winning his fights, his reach is huge. That's why he carries that belt around with him everywhere, because he know it won't be long.
And i don't know if vera can do it yet. Someday he will, i just think it's too soon.

Listen, Sylvia is real big, and hes actually a pretty accurate and fast striker. PERSONALLY, I think hes a little sloppy, and I think one of the better fighters in Pride could destroy him.
I also think that Chuck Liddel could beat him. And not only that, but I think that if he entered an open-weight tournament, he would do terrible and would get iced by a smaller fighter that is an expert in grappling.

sylvia's size makes him look ackward to me. it is a huge advantage to be that big of course. monson couldn't even reach him. his fight against arvoloski was one of the most boring fights i've ever seen. i wouldn't want to fight sylvia, but if i had to, his legs would be my target. in a way that is a disadvantage for him if people would realize this.
