This probably applies to California community colleges. When I took my courses in a California state university, I was able to have these fees waived. I filled out FAFSA and based on your answers and income, you might be able to have these fees waived. I also asked the university admission counselors or financial aid counselors. I found out that most students do not even apply thinking they are not eligible for some kind of financial aid or grants. It never hurts to ask.

Think FAFSA! Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.FAFSA.ed.gov

By doing so you'll also be applying for the Community College BOG Fee Waiver. That will waive your enrollment fees if it is determined you are in financial need. Also by completing the FAFSA, you may be able to receive a Pell Grant and Cal Grant. That's FREE money you don't have to pay back! So file the FAFSA and Cal Grant GPA verification form. FAFSA maybe filed electronically on the website or mailed in. Check your local library, highschool, or community college. It's also not a bad idea to check out the website of the community college in question.

Get a BOG.

It's a Board of Governor's grant, and it waives all fees, including the health fee (but not parking...) It should be in the Schedule.

There's an income limit, don't lie, but they don't really check. They're limited as to how they can, and because most administrators hate Schwarzenegger and don't believe in fees of any kind, they often don't check.

If you're a non resident, you have to be here for at least (two?) years (used to be one.) Otherwise, it's out-of-state tuition time.

I've tried to ge them waived before, but it didn't work, its required of everyone before they register.

The funds go to various school programs.
