Yes! Just watch in a restaurant, groups of women do not get the same service as a groups of men, and single women do not have a chance at any thing approaching good service.
Lets just face the fact that, still, most servers are women, and some are not above flirting for a tip.
And women carry the reputation of not being as generous of tippers as men, but I do not find that to be true.
Yes, some of the male servers flirt, but not many. My female friend and I just went to a national chain restaurant for lunch Saturday, the waiter was bored with us, and made no bones about showing us that he was bored with us two middle aged women at his table. The two not pretty, but much younger girls at the next table practically got salivated on by him so eager was he to serve them. We had to ask twice for more drinks, the child at that table had one of every kind of free refills drink on the menu. And we tip good, at least 20%. I have learned my lesson, I think I will mention that up front, do right by me, I'll give you 20%, see if that helps.
And I have learned that servers do the math on the tip by what you order. Men tend to order big meals, big steaks, big seafood platters. Women tend to order lighter fare. Less expensive meal. less tip, and forget it if you do not order alcohol with your meal. You will not get good service.
I did laugh about Saturday. the resaurant is across the street from a huge shopping mall, in the middle of a huge shopping district. Men, especially at lunch on a Saturday in this location, are rare, indeed. and most teenybopper age girls are busy at the mall boy-watching, not usually found in surrounding restaurants, they do not have the funds. If I were the server, and fishing for tips, I would have chosen the two well dressed middle aged ladies to fish with, not the two jeans clad scruffy teenagers.
Hope I answered your question, I know I added more info than you asked for.

Depends on what you mean by service.
Sorry. Had to.
I think it really depends. I get called hon and sweetie a lot, but mostly by other women. They also tend to touch my arm or back a lot.
Most female waiters don't touch my boyfriend because I think they don't know how I would react.
Male waiters always seem friendly, but not affectionate.
But to more directly answer, I think I get better service as a woman.

I think so. It's a vicious circle, too--men supposedly tip better, but why would women give good tips if they're being passed over for men who got there later and generally given shoddy service? I try to break it by tipping servers who are respectful at least 25 percent.

I've been a waitress at several different restaurants and I treat everyone the same. I want to make them all happy. BUT, if they have a major attitude (man or woman, white or black, drunk or stupid), I tend to be rude and short right back. I figure that going back to check on them and have to deal with their bad attitudes just is not worth the $hitty tip anyway.

No not at all...I think it depends on the sex of the waiter/ress-unfortunately--but girls are often more extrovertive and elicit that same response in the server...I wonder why you ask this question-have you found different?

I really don't think men get better service. I think women and men get the same good service when they look their best.

yes they cater more to men or a group that has men . they think that men will tip better, it is an old sterotype that should go away, and fast.. women and men tip equally most of the time

It's quite possible. Men in general have higher status in our society (even though it shouldn't be that way!)
