I think I know that most guys like deep-throating with oral sex if at all possible, and that most people understand that human beings have a gag reflex. Not only, in my experience, have guys said they don't mind if you gag (the noise), but some actually *like* it! I would think the sound of someone gagging would be off-putting!
Why would that be a turn-on?

First, remember this is GUYS we're talking about. Half their brain is focused down there a good deal of the time, and during sex, it's close to 99%. Guys like to think that they are well endowed, it makes them feel more manly. Even if they don't want to place importance on this part of themselves, a lot of them do anyway. So when you gag, well, it means that it's big enough to choke you, and god damn does that ever make them a man. It's also a control thing, they're experiencing a momementary sense of power over you when this happens, which for many, can also be a turn on. Sound twisted? It is.
Finally, most won't care, even if it isn't a turn on per se, because guess what, they're in the middle of getting oral, who cares if the house you are in is on fire, I mean really!! And it is this that plays the biggest role in why guys don't care, any guy I've every known LOVES oral, and some little thing like you gagging is not going to change that one little bit. Biting on the other hand, well, that just might :)

my girlfriend now my wife loves giving as well as receiving and was real proud of herself for mastering the no gag routine, and i am not complaining at all, the sensation is awesome,

Im not a big fan of oral because I don't really think it's fair to the girl.
My only guess would be that somehow subconciously, it gratifies them/us, making them think that their member is so big that it makes the girls choke on it. insecure guys reflect their manliness with their \/\/.
