Do you mean a mental hospital? You can go to Community Mental Health crisis center and they will evaluate you. You have to commit a crime to go to jail. But if you are sucidial the police will come get you and take you to CMH.

Depending on your location
In most cases you can voluntarily admit yourself to a State facility. In regards to a local jail I would not think so. As most of these facilities are overcrowded and under-funded.

Why would you feel the need to be locked up?

Do you need someone to listen?

If you really feel that you need to be commited, yes, you can voluntarily walk into a mental health hospital and commit yourself.
I would NOT recommend walking into a jail and doing that! For one thing, jails are for crimminals, not the mentally ill or depressed. They are not equipped to deal with someone who is ill.
If you are feeling depressed, please, please go to your nearest hospital emergency room, tell them how you are feeling, and they will help you get the help that you need.
Good luck and God bless!
