I truly hate to say this, I really do, but it can. It all depends on the girl. Personally, I'm not out there scoping out the guys and then finding out how big there pocket book is before committing to a serious relationship. I like to base things on attraction, chemistry, compatability, and many other qualities that I like in a boyfriend such as being trustworthy, considerate, and intelligent. But there are girlst of all types. Some like the realllly good looking guys, and won't settle for less, and some see dollar bills to be the most attractive asset a man can posses. Then again, some girls like broke *** hippy bums who don't bathe!
The thing is though, most women want a man who makes a respectable living. They don't need you to be rich, but they do usually like to know that marriage to you won't entail living in a trailer park (though there are some pretty swanky ones, I'm not referring to those, this is just an attempt to illustrate a point!), and they like to know that they won't be responsible for the total income should things get serious between you. Women do want security, but nowadays do not depend completely on a man for this. Therefore, flipping burgers is not going to catch you a majority of the girls out there (and this isn't just the income thing, they'll have doubts about your maturity, responsibility, etc etc), but the really great ones who aren't after money can be had by the majority of men who make an average income.

It never mattered to me when I was dating. As long as there WAS a salary, in other words, I'm not taking the bf to raise. I don't think a man should have to support me, and I don't intend to support a man - it should be a 50-50 thing in a relationship.

I won't lie. You asked if it mattered, and it does. Whether it's the PRIMARY concern is another subject. Salary matters for life. I don't think any woman wants to be a bum or see her children grow up to be uneducated and broken thugs. However, I think most women make up for it by becoming successfull themselves, so that they can prepare for that special love when it isn't the main focus of their relationship.

Depends on the person. Some women like guys with a lot of money so they will feel secure, or they just are golddiggers who want to spend it all.

But you need to be able to pull your own wheight....
In my opinion a guy needs to make the same or more than me... if we go out to diner I wont be suprised and end up paying the check.... a guy has to have money.
