i have a friend who recently was put on lorazepam, and has changed significantly since then. i would like to hear if anyone else has had bad experiences with it or knows someone who has.

also, any information on paxil would be helpful.

the most common side effect for lorazepam is sedation ( it is a sedative you know). Some people can become disinhibited ( act sort of drunk). rare people will have a paradoxical reaction and become more agitated.

Hope this is helpful. What do you want to know in particular about paxil?

These medications effect different people in different ways. And yes they can change a person's personality and can take away inhibitions. They can make a "good" person do bad things. They can make a "bad" person do good things also. They can effect the sex drive, the memory, the eyesight, the taste, the coordination, equilibrium, and a ton of other things as well.Like the sense of smell, touch, make the skin crawl, the tongue feel thick. An introvert may become an extrovert on these things. And they can stay in ones system for over a year after you stop taking them.

They have made me crazy before. I will say though that Paxil made me a much nicer person the first time I took it. But when I tried to go back on it, it did nothing for me. During the time that I was it was leaving my system, I had judgement problems. I did not know right from wrong and lost most of my fear response. I would drive my car at over 100 miles an hour one foot from the retaining wall and think nothing of it. I felt no fear and not much of anything else either. I have not tried the Lorazepam, but I have been on others. Lexapro nearly caused me to be in a traffic accident more than once. It would put me to sleep in a matter of seconds. But I never knew when it would manifest this problem. It caused many other things to happen as well. I took others but Lexapro was by far the worst of all.

When medicine fails, God Almighty can help if you seek Him with all your heart.

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
(Digestion of above can even prevent depression and suicidal thoughts.)
