I have seen horrible damage to black hair by too much braids and too many extensions. Mostly to the scalp. Once hair is pulled out it often doesn't grow again. Be careful. Oh yes and lets not forget too many relaxers. All of this is fairly common.

The most beautiful hair I ever saw belonged to a woman 'of color' who grew her natural locks to the middle of her back. It was soft, it had waves, it was thick and amazing.

No matter how 'kinky' your hair let me encourage you to grow it out, it is always a show stopper.

it is possible for anybodys hair to break off especially if it is dry. also if it is braided too tight. i just recently had this problem with my daughter. i took her to get her hair done and she got cornrows. they were so tight she had a headache the first day but she toughed it out. when i finally decided to take them out about two weeks later, (which i was told they would last at least a month) she had a bald spot in the back of her head. needless to say i was furious. being black doesn't make your hair unbreakable maybe knotty not invincible
