I live in Everett (40 minutes North of Seattle). I am interested in studying buddhism, but I don't know where to start. Is there a temple or school around here? Is there a book I should read first?

The Buddhist Handbook by John Snelling is a good start
You can also pick up a magazine called "Buddhadharma: A Practicioner's Quarterly"

you are a smart person! lol. i'm not buddhist but have a huge fascination with it.

what i would do if i were you is look in the yellow pages under religion or something and see if you can find a temple.

i would also go to a library or a barnes and noble, and in the religion section there are always books of interest.. including books on buddhism.

i would also check out buddhanet, an awesome buddhist site here on the net.

good luck!!
