I used to sing to my kids as I was putting them to bed.
I started with:
Jump in bed, and cover up your head,
Cos Mammas gonna kiss you goodnight!
(To the tune of Here comes Santa Clause)
They would giggle and cover up their heads, as I tried to pull down the covers and kiss their little faces. They would eventually let me kiss them, and then they would choose a song for me to sing to them. A softer song. Or they would request a story. And they would drift off peacefully to sleep.
