Based of the answers to the Q: If god appeared to you and told you to kill the person you love the most as proof of your faith, would you?
The most famous case is the story of Abraham and Isaac Genesis 22, but there is also various times where the children if Israel must kill their own such as with Achan in Joshua 7, and with the daughters of Moab in Numbers 25, and we cant forget about the false prophets in Deuteronomy 13. You can check them out at http://www.biblegateway.com. There are more cases but I just can’t find them.
Also if you want to say God changed since then, explain to me how that could be if Hebrews 13:8 is true (Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.) along with Colossians 2:9
(For in him [Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.).
Can’t wait for your responses, but please use scripture.

In this day and age we are all wicked. what is that verse the wicked will sleigh the evil. according to the Vedic scriptures in the age of Kali (quarrel and hypocrisy) or the present age no one is qualified to be a real Ksatrya or worrier. Because mercy has been lost and everyone is a sinner one way or another. So God would not ask us in this age to do such things. Other ages yes but not this age. In scripture women and children are not supposed to be involved at all in battle yet look at our ridiculous wars today. There are certain rules of warfare but no one is following. But again in this age there is no real war against goo evil. it is all evil

to make it clear i'm pretty much agnostic/atheist
i would never believe in a god that would ask me to kill my family, even if my family was morally corrupt, 'god' has given man free will which in turn has created this balance of good and bad, there is no such thing as killing all the bad people in the world and having this perfect world and another thing, i don't believe god to be a person, giving god characteristics of humans only degrades him because we are animals
and my parents are hindu, so i don't know anything about scriptures from the bible, or any book of any religion

That's an easy one. You are talking about the Old Testament. This makes the most sense in the context with the New Testament.
God showed us this in order to give us a clue about what was to come with the Father allowing His Son to die for us.
Biblical typology is critical to understanding the Bible.

Please learn to read and study the Holy Bible in its entirety and within complete and proper context. You cannot take bits and pieces of scripture and interpret the Bible in that manner. If done that way, one can make it say whatever they want.
What you are doing is looking at a few trees and missing the whole big picture of the forest.

Um, I thought your ALMIGHTY said that murder was one of you deadly sins?? Or does he get to pick and choose which ones are relevant at different times. Glad I'm not wasting my whole life based on the word of this guy.

although i am a christian, what you have said does seem to be true, as a christian, i believe there were reasonings behind god telling people to do that.. to see how much peole really loved god, or something of that nature. i do think it's sort of unfortunete that god did that, but at those times, wierd things happened.

A better question is "Why is Abraham admired because he was willing to kill his son?"
Would he not be a better man if he knew that it was wrong to kill -- even for a god?
