Does the alcohol kill any viruses or bacteria? If so, how much alcohol content is required (wine, beer, hard liquor, etc.)?

of course, you can get sick at the moment you drink your drink. you will get the cold from the glass not the liquid.

Yes you can. The common cold virus is quite resilient - and it's been known to happen. It's one of the most resilient known to modern medicine, actually. I don't think beer and wine would even bother it under normal conditions. Hard liquor might kill it if the virus is soaked long enough - the problem is your lips touch the bottle before the alcohol has any chance of acting as an antiseptic. I assume if you clean surfaces with hard liquor, that will have some antiseptic effect, but you're still better off with antibacterial soap.

Yes you can get sick, however I'm not sure how much alcohol is required to kill the bacteria.

Have your own straw, and no worries!!
There are more germs on a car steering wheel, and shopping trolley handles than in a public toilet!!
The easiest way to catch a cold virus is from airborne germs.......someone sneezes as you breathe in..............
A doctors waiting room is also a good place if you are looking to step out with a cold virus!

Drinking from somebody's alcoholic beverage may get you more than sick. You might get bopped.

Yes, because the virus would be on the outside of the glass, where their bottom lip touches. Best to not drink out of someone else's glass. I hate it when someone other than my 2 year-old drinks out of my glass.

Even if the alcohol did kill the germs ... they are still on the glass.
