iPod, laptop, cell phone, Treo, a book, my wallet and all that good stuff, chap stick, Altoids, and if I checked a bag, one change of clothes just in case the bag doesn't show up. Especially important when I'm connecting through somewhere!
But usually I don't check bags so everything I need for my trip is with me.

MP3 player, at least 2 books (what if I don't like the first one?), used to carry water (that's over now), pen and notepad, camera, laptop, travel documents and documents that I might need on arrival

noise canceling headphones
DVD player
book
moisturizer/lip balm
saline nasal spray
Evian mister
eyeshades
slippers
several inflatable pillows--neck, back and butt
a small footrest (I have short legs)
water (when allowed)
dried fruit snacks
ibuprofen
Of course, in purse there's passport, money, ticket, etc. etc.

chocolate passport money books to read my laptop computer my purse makeup kit cell phone a blanket pillow change of clothes shoes hair brush other stuff that will keep my attention or i will fall asleep.

ipod, sudoku, some paper, pens, pencils, something to snack on, lotion (sm bottle due to new regulations), travel docs, my laptop (depending on where i'm traveling and what for)...that's bout it
