I was takeing it before for depression and anxiety and i found it really did work (espeically for my anxiety). Don't throw them away like some people suggest, those are just the ignorant ones that thinks it's a sin to give your body a little medical help, when there is absolutely nothing wrong with medication. Sorry about that, but you need to listen to whatever your doc said. Other than not changing your dosage w/out your docs permission and taken your meds at a constant time (like right before dinner every day so you don't forget a dose) and not taking them on an empty stomach (unless told to by your doc) there ain't to much. Don't mess with the dosage, don't skip days if possible, and don't stop taking them because you start to feel better, some ppl stop when they feel better and then they just go downhill. Just listen to your doc, he/she is a professional and knows what's best for you.

I've been on Zoloft since I was 15 and I'm 25 now. Zoloft has done wonders for my depression and anxiety. I would expect to start feeling its effects in about two to three weeks.

I have never had any harsh side effects and it helps me feel much better. However, like most medication, it is only part of the solution. If you are seeking counceling, keep that up, for it will maximize the effect of your new treatment plan.

Good luck

my ex was prescribed Zoloft for her anxiety problems.

she also had a postpartum depression and was diagnosed bi-polar.

the Zoloft seemed to help. but getting her to take them every day was a problem. she did not have any problem quitting them at all.

however i think that medication like this is really on an individual basis. it will effect everyone in a different way.

i wish you good luck and better days ahead.

50 mg/day in a single dose is the initial recommended dose. After several weeks it may be increased weekly up to 200 mg/day, depending on your response. You may have some drowsiness or dizziness and caution should be used with activities requiring alertness until your personal response to the drug is know. Notify your health care provider if you experience a headache, weakness, nausea, anorexia, anxiety, or insomnia occurs that persists.

Took Zoloft for depression. It took some time, but it helped; however, after I was used to it, I got better results if I occasionally skipped or halved a dose. Ask your doctor whenever you have questions.

I haven't taken it but my friend has and it did wonders for her - just make sure you don't rely purely on the drug - you need to actively start making positive changes in your life, zoloft is just there to hold your hand while you do it.

Be careful not to drink too much alcohol with it - my friend used to completely spin out when she drank (in a bad way - hyperventilating)

I take it for anxiety and ocd, it takes awahile to kick in, but it does work. You should visit with your psychiatrist regularly to manage the dosage, sometimes it takes a few adjustments for you to find the exact dosage you need. It really helps, I've been taking it for several years, and am doing fine. Sometimes it makes me hungry and a bit sleepy, so I take it in the evening. Good luck!

I used to be on them. The advice I have is to take them with food. I got horrible heart burns whenever I didn't have food to take them with. Good luck :)

you have to take them daily at about the same time allow them time to get in your system, if you forget to take them once they are in your system you will know it. you will not want to be around anybody.
