I agree, don't dip your pen in the company ink, BUT you could always get a group of people together, break the ice of showing him or her that you can hang outside of work without there being any kind of commitment...then the next time, say you want to get a group together again to go out for drinks...get him or her to say they are up for it, then make sure no one else can go. Again, making him or her comfortable outside of work is key...then you can let nature do its thing if it's meant to be.

Dating a co-worker is never a good thing..find someone outside of work. Trust me.

You should simply ask her in a straightforward and non threatening manner.

If she says no, then you should continue to treat her with respect as a co-worker. If you persist after she indicates she is not interested, that is sexual harassment.

Tell him/her that the boss called a meeting and it is at a restaurant. Then only you two show up. Just try for a lunch date more than a dinner date, that way it is more casual, less pressure and easier to say//" hey wana go on lunch break with me as opposed to want to go to dinner.

believe me you don't want to ask your co-worker out on a date, its really....really bad idea. If things don't work out, you don't want seeing the person everyday, even if it works out, its still awkward and just straight out pathetic seeing that person everyday at work. ITS A DISASTER WAITTING TO HAPPEN.
