I would personally like thank the people who have been honestly helpful. But to recap my previous question, since I guess it wasn't clear:
To me, blind faith is having to accept something with little or no evidence and absolutely no proof. Talk about the Bible and all your miracles as much as you want. I can write "Joe told me he is God, and since God can't lie, you know that I'm telling the truth," which, to me, is pretty much what the Bible is. But, me just writing that, and you not being able to prove he's NOT, doesn't mean it's true. The fact is, there is no hard proof that God exists, otherwise everyone would be a Christian, and like many of you say, there never will be until its too late. Well, WHY?
I'm not saying the Bible advocates blind faith. Oh, and one more thing, would Jesus be a condensending self rightous biggot about the things I've asked tonight? Think about that before offering any more back handed insight, and you know who I'm talking to, oldguy69.

All faith is to some extent blind faith, depending on your criteria. When you believe something or in something strongly you don't need proof, you don't need to justify yourself to anyone because that is what you believe. What is proof? You see everything is relative because different people will have a different idea on what constitutes as proof. For example you assert that there is no hard proof that God exists, however you discredit scripture as proof, therefore your criteria for proof is different than that of other people.
Faith transcends reason, true faith cannot be hung up on "hard proof" and this is why "blind faith" exists. It is a stron passionate feeling and conviction. I cannot do justice to the question as it is hard to articulate an answer that covers eveything. It's good to have open discussions such as this. Thanks for posting.

You are correct that the Bible does not ask it's readers to have "blind faith." Warning against credulity, the Bible states: “Anyone inexperienced puts faith in every word, but the shrewd one considers his steps.” (Prov. 14:15) And again: “Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.” (1 Thess. 5:21) That implies careful examination, sifting, the exercising of your “power of reason” and then holding on to what is found to be true.—Rom. 12:1, 2.

You say there is no hard proof that God exists. However, the apostle Paul made this observation: "For his invisible [qualities] are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable" Yes, the "things made" speak of God so loudly that Paul is saying it is inexcusable to not be able to see it.

The following is a beautiful exerpt from a Bible journal that I wanted to share with you: "Psalm 19 poetically speaks of the evidence of God thru his creations. For example Psalm 19:1 says: “The heavens are declaring the glory of God; and of the work of his hands the expanse is telling.” David discerned that the stars and the planets that shone through “the expanse,” or atmosphere, gave irrefutable proof of the existence of a glorious God. He continues: “One day after another day causes speech to bubble forth, and one night after another night shows forth knowledge.” (Psalm 19:2) Day after day and night after night, the heavens display God’s wisdom and creative power. It is as if speech praising God were ‘bubbling forth’ from the heavens.
However, it takes discernment to hear this witness. “There is no speech, and there are no words; no voice on their part is being heard.” Yet, the silent testimony of the heavens is powerful. “Into all the earth their measuring line has gone out, and to the extremity of the productive land their utterances.” (Psalm 19:3, 4) It is as if the heavens sent out ‘measuring lines’ to make sure that their silent witness filled every corner of the earth."

It seems to me that Ps. 19 is true. The evidence stretches from one end of the visible universe to the other.

You make the interesting statement that if there was 'hard proof of God's existence then everyone would be a Christian'. 2 Cor. 4:4 explains why some people will never "see" it no matter how plain the evidence is: "the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers." Satan the Devil is the Great Deceiver. He is a master at hiding the obvious from the eyes of humans. But he only can fool those who allow him to do so. It's interesting that to put up a hard fight against his influence takes a quality we don't normally think of when it comes to "fighting" - the quality of humility. Yes, it takes humility to realize that we needed a Creator to be here at all. It puts us indebted to Him for our life, and for our very existence. A prideful person doesn't wish to be thankful to anyone.

I hope my input is somehow useful to you. Best wishes.

I apologize for being so abrupt, I am just uneasy about the term "blind" faith. I don't for one minte see Christans as having that kind of faith. The Bible says God created the heavens and the earth, and I look up and I can see the heavens and the earth, and am astounded by them. The Bible says Jesus came and died and I look into history and it is highly documented. I read about the return of Israel to the land, and watched in 1948 when they became a nation in the land. I pray to God as He says and my heart and mind are filled with peace and joy. I use principle of life as stated in the Bible and they work in my personal life and family. I can't see this as "blind faith". What the Bible says is true 100% to what I have seen in my life.

Well, Ive never read the Bible because first I can't understand it & second I don't agree with all that's in there but with me I feel like I have to believe because the thought of not seeing my beloved grandparents, friends etc would be too hard to live with. I understand that there's no proof & the holy rollers really do turn people off but I can't think of people who have such misery in their lives just die & get stuck in the ground. That's just my way of getting through every day & not being afraid of dieing. I hope I answered some of your questions

To add to that, how many times has a christian said to you "Well of course its true cause its in the bible." I mean seriously its not like I believe in the bible but not god, so how does saying that add credit to anything they have said. Its actually a little irritating cause they give you that look like "see told ya so" when they say it and all I can do is sit there and try not to laugh.

I see your point. For the record, I was a serious stubborn athiest. I prayed to "jesus" because I was really desperate and also wanted to prove to myself that I was right.

But He answered with a series of miracles. He knew I would never give in on just blind faith, I was too stubborn.

Blessings,
David

In the bible several people ask for signs or proof, but jesus
advocated faith before proof.

Apparently faith precedes proof from what i have read.

We need to spread the word about the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the one true god. And you don't need faith! It's scientifically proven.

Visit the church and pray for enlightenment from his noodly appendage.
