ive had mine for like 4 years or so, and i drank and smoked right after i got it pierced, so mine swelled up HUGE and turned bright green and bright yellow durin gthe first two days. i dont remember too much about the healing process, but after the first few days i think it was just fine. it never hurts now, except once when i got a piece of popcorn stuck inside the hole..but once i fished it out it was all good.

Mine never really hurt or swelled at all. I got it at night and the next morning went to a birthday party and no one even knew I got it. My husband's swelled up big time and he talked funny for a week. I think it just depends on your bodý's reaction to stress/trauma/foreign objects. Everyone is different. I never had any problem with mine. Ever. He had problems until it completely healed. But then it was fine. Good luck.
