its political correctness. the atheists which make up 3% of americans are trying to push their one sided view on everyone. it is not against the Constitution to say Merry Christmas in the least bit.

Not too long ago it was legal to discriminate against someone who had different religious beliefs than the majority.
Not too long ago about the only jobs women could get were secretaries, nurses and teachers.
Not too long ago blacks had to sit in the back of the bus.
As out society has grown we have realized that things don't have to be the way the way they were not too long ago.
And we aren't afraid of Merry Christmas. It is perfectly fine to say it. It is just as fine to say any number of other holiday greetings.

Its the political correctness thing. I put some money a few days ago in the Salvation Army kettle. The bell ringer said "Happy Holidays". I told her that I was sorry I put the money in, and if they can't say Merry Christmas, then they should take their kettles and stick them where the sun don't shine. I'm tired of all this crap. It's Christmas. I will give my money to the organizations that aren't afraid to say it.

They are not afraid of Merry Christmas, they just want to have something to make an issue about. But I can tell you one thing, they so freely will say out of their own same mouth and by their own free will ... and scream Jesus F'n Christ or God D*mmit, but never do you hear them or anyone ever blast Allah, Buddha, Muhhamad, Confucius or any of the other so called god's.
And why? Because it is very simple. Ask the devil, he has the answer to that...
Ok, because you cannot take Glory from a god or blaspheme a god who doesn't exist.
By the way.....Happy Birthday Jesus : )

They affraid of getting sued or worse. The majority of non-Christians don't care and they even might like if a person said "Merry Christmas" to them.
The same goes for "Anno Domini".
Obviously anything that has to do with God is no longer tolerated, which is strange since the majority of people believe in God or Gods. The majority oppresed by the minority?

Maybe it is because of the fact that not everyone is Christian, If I was to say "Happy Yule" to a Christian, they may take offense. What if you say Merry Christmas to a Jew...They may take offense. No one wants someone to push their religious beliefs on them. I don't think anyone is afraid of it, but if one complains about other religions, what right to they have to push theirs? Why can't everyone just say "happy Holidays" and get over it?

Who is offended by it???
Did you know Barbara Striesand sings Christmas music....she is Jewish.
The Holidays are for everyone, a season of giving (not just presents), if someone is insulted by saying Merry Christmas just say Bah Humbug to them and be on your merry way. Ho Ho Ho.

The so-called "war on Christmas" is a farce. It never existed. It was all made up to rile the Christians into acting out against a perceived threat; namely the Democratic party. The whole thing was a perfect example of how to manipulate ignorant masses through flock mentality.
Age old lesson: Give the populace a bogeyman to fear and you can easily coerce them into happily handing you ever increasing amounts of power and fortune.

This political correctness cr@p has moved from politics into our national religious culture. It really wears on me. It's not a holiday tree it's a CHRISTMAS tree. It's not a holiday parade it's a CHRISTMAS parade. So when people say to me "Happy Holidays" I respond "Merry Christmas"

Maybe because people don't celebrate it much because of their religion. now people are getting older, so they know more about their religion, and know now the truth.
Either that, or its too soon to say Merry Christmas.
