a doctor is held by an oath that they cannot tell the cops, etc about you or your condition.
there are 2 people you never lie to that are designed to protect you. a doctor and an attorney. both are held by legal oaths to not disclose your information or truth about you or they will go to jail.
so yes...if the doctor asks if you have done any drugs, even smoking pot, you should come clean to them. they ask this cause some other medications can have odd effects if mixed with other items.
same with attorney....even if you kill someone, tell them the truth and their job is to find all the holes and loops in the system so they can lie for you to get you off the hook.

Every time! In fact, I carry a list with me of the meds I take daily since I can't remember off the top of my head easily even though I've been taking them for years. As for the drugs you are speaking of, stop taking them!! Don't you know what they can do to you? They may not call the "po-pos," but I sure hope they call the "parents-parents" or whoever is supposed to be keeping an eye on you.

what are the po-pos? i am answering because i'm a health care worker. we don't ask if you've taken drugs because we really don't care if you are doing anything illegal or to judge you. it's important in your treatment because some prescriptions will interact with street drugs and you may require more or less pain medication than normal. also it is important in your symptoms and can affect your course of treatment. it is always important the physician have the full picture of what he is taking care of. i am assuming here the "po-po's" are the police....this is why i've chosen to answer the question.

No, I haven't. But they do not call the police, they just feel as though you would tell them since it's an important factor in helping your health. Also, doctors feel as though you would think it's okay to tell them things that you are not willing to tell your parents.
Usually when they say drugs, they mean other pharmaceuticals.

yes I almost always answer truthfully. If your actions do not directly affect the safety or well being of another they are obligated by doctor patient confidentiality to protect your privacy.

They can't.
Its called Dr. patient confidentiality. You should tell the truth.
If you're a minor, they might be able to tell your parents, I'm unsure.
