What is the name of this?

John attacked Peter with a weapon. Peter called the police. Later, John was sent to court. The judge said: from now on, John and Peter have to be 500 yards away from each other.

I know there is a specific name of the judge’s order.

It's a "restraining order." Some courts may also term it an "injunction."

In most states an order prohibiting contact between two parties is referred to as a "Restraining Order."

As a technical matter, however, in your scenario, if John is being prosecuted for attacking Peter, such restrictions would normally be imposed by the court as part of his release conditions/bail order. The difference is that Restraining Orders are usually obtained by one private party seeking prohibitions on contact with another private party (regardless of whether criminal charges are pending). Prohibitions on contact occuring as a result of a criminal prosecution are imposed by the court, not a private party.

It is called a "protective order". It is usually only valid for a few months but can be up to 2 years depending on the circumstances. Most say 300 feet away. It may be different from state to state and court to court though.

restraining order, the judge has to issue it. from the sound of it they both have one issued on them as per the judge, usually one person can petition the court to get one against another person, if they feel they are in physical danger.
