Of course, and it can also be a test not just a was to give him knowledge about you if he really cares he will comfort you, and he will try to find a way to make you happy. If he doesn't know what to say it doesn't mean he doesn't care it means he doesn't know what to do. chances are no one has ever went this deep about their feelings and family matters with him. If he doesn't care at all it will show he won't try to comfort you he will just forget about.
PS. don't complain or tell him about it to much because it could get annoying.

Ultimately, yes. But I don't want a woman who habitually complains just for the sake of complaining, I've met women like that and they're very irritating and difficult to live with.
I think most men who are serious about finding a woman to spend their lives with would want that woman to share every part of herself with them. Including her fears, secrets and inner demons.

When one of my female friends tells me her personal issues it let's me know she trusts me. In my case. Yes, I want her to tell me anything she wants to. I'm an excellent listener and chat.
